Nikon and Fuji didn’t make shutters. Maybe you meant Seiko?
Shoot some shots at f22. If performance is not what you expect then the lens probably is missing required shims or has been abused.
One sure sign is if the aperture scale is wrong.
0 shutter. The proper aperture scale is easily added as the two scales on the shutter are held on with 2 small screws.
Why? If you use the correct lighting they are easy to use.
Or, the Imagon
The requirements for spacing and alignment are much more demanding then simply replacing them.
Assuming you get it apart, how would you assure proper centering and spacing when you put it back together?
My records start in Nov 1946 and your camera predates that. So I can’t tell you.
John,
Thanks for the clarification, and give Anne my best!
Good to hear!
Kenny was using an old Super Technika IV when one day, just after he sold his ranch in GA, I got a call from John that Kenny needed to buy a used Folding Focus Hood for that old Technika.
I berated...
But if you could mount it in that 0 shutter it would no longer be a 300mm 4.5 lens.
But you left out the most important step.
Learn what point to focus on.
Focus ⅓ rd into the scene. If doing close or macro us ½.
I was there in 57. Fun times. Went there because my girlfriend was at Beenadeewin.
Camp Norway? I’m sure it wasn’t Benadewan (spelling?)
Useable image circle.
Stopping down increases the image circle.
Perhaps you would like to explain why the image circle increases as one stops down or focuses closer then infinity. Per manufacturer’s spec sheets.
“ Solution to the lens in barrel "problem" became the Sinar shutter about four decades ago.”
Try 6 decades ago. I used it in my studio in the 60s.
The original Sinar shutter was introduced in 1951.
Sorry, no.
Check Rodenstock specs. Long lenses in barrel have, with some lenses, larger circles then the same lens in Copal 3 shutter.
As long as the image circle isn’t chocked down by the shutter.
Sorry, there is no wiggle room. The distance from the top to the bottom of the gg is too great.
1956 Technika lll
1965 V, not IV.
The longer the focal length the greater the depth of focus.
Just to be slightly picky, it hasn’t been ASA for decades. It’s ISO.
Mm or cm?
Unless your camera has axis tilts and swings.
And that makes the camera yaw free when used on it’s side as then the swing is beneath the tilt.
Rear swing does not create distortion. But just like rear tilt it controls subject shape.
You do know that hose gels fade with time, heat and light, don’t you?
Use black, opaque, wrap. Not clear wrap.
No, that’s not what I said. I posted a few years ago that LInhof announced that they had tighten their tolerances and that older boards would not fit (mount) on newer camera bodies without using a...
