Re: Carl Zeiss Jena tessar 17.5cm info??

I just found this when researching another zeiss lens: https://www.arnecroell.com/czj.pdf

He has compiled a lot of information in this paper and it may help you. I could only find 165mm and 180mm...

Re: converting a apo tessar to a triplet

Thanks! So it is a "for real" tessar. I also found this article: https://www.arnecroell.com/czj.pdf. Thank you for Mr. Arnie Croll for this information.

This article has a whole section on these...

Re: converting a apo tessar to a triplet

    Thanks everyone.

Polishing sounds maybe better if I can't get it apart.

But great suggestion--Yes--I totally forgot about the lens close up diopters I have somewhere. Hopefully the focal...

converting a apo tessar to a triplet

Long story short: I just inherited a junk 60cm apo tessar. nice shape except for the dust and the front element which looks like it was cleaned a LOT over the years without much care. So the front...

    Stumped!
You can try to open the shutter on "B" then pop the strobe, then close the shutter. Just test to make sure your "B" setting works. That way you ensure to get the full power of the flash pop...

Sending it out kind of almost eliminates a one-person processing error, right? It's an assumption to be sure, but a pretty reasonable one that at least one of the sheets was processed correctly...

Did you leave the dark slide in the film holder when you shot the picture? You can't have left the lens cap on?

Re: Fresh dry plates in a variety of sizes

That one from glennview is a different rail. The one everyone's talking about is the 1 inch square rail that was used on the original cambos--this is what makes it desirable--the rail can be...
  14. Re: Seeking Monorails for a 16x20, Also Will a 4x5 Front Standard Work?

Re: Lens to produce vignetted images on 4x5

Any lens will work. All you have to do is black out a uv filter around the periphery deep enough to get the desired effect on the ground glass. Or just cut out an aperture on a piece of black paper...

Re: Distortions Exposure and the ground glass

Re: Distortions Exposure and the ground glass

Correct--as far as I know, the only thing that camera movements do is allow a change in perspective or focus plane. I don't see how a camera movement would make a straight line appear to be curved.

Re: Distortions Exposure and the ground glass

Yes--to accentuate the effect of perspective, the rule is the closer you are to the subject, the more perspective "distortion" is enhanced--so shorter focus lenses produce more effect than longer...
