Just search death valley on Flickr and you'll come up with thousands of good images that capture the sense of place in the desert. Artistic wise I like the death valley images of Edward Weston.
I'm sooo tired of seeing dog and cat images on the digital forums that are used to test peoples new dslr's, but this is a truly GREAT image! The composition, the selective focus with the joy of a...
For my 8x10 loading, I do it at night in the bathroom. First turn on the hot shower and let it steam up for about 5 min. Then let the steam evaporate some. Then slip on some powder free nitrol gloves...
On my 1998 3047 I have both the cork and newer rubber topped plates. Both are secure and snug.

Have you looked at the photobackpacker system that uses the Kelty packs? Google photobackpacker. I've been thinking of getting an 8x10 field camera and a backpack for it, and the photobackpacker...
Alberto, I have a Shen-Hao HZXIIA 4x5 and have absolutely no problem using my Polaroid 545 holder with it. Bummer the film is gone though.
Always enjoy your work Austin
Thanks! Well compared to schleping the 8x10 around, it feels like messing around :D

Messing around with the little camera in the front yard.
Mask the legs and spray em with clear polyurethane.
Hi Scott, no it's Crystal Cove State Beach down here in So.Cal.
And I'm on the flip side of the coin.Had the Pentax digital spot meter and found all the little numbers on the rings confusing. The Minolta was way more intuitive for me, but I'm missing the left...
Minolta Spot Meter F. It does flash and is easy for low iq brains like mine to figure out :D Been a happy user since 1995
Thanks Heroique, very well explained, gives me some food for thought. Vinny on the 8x10, do your think your regular hood would be ok on a bigger plasmat like my 360mm f/5.6, its a 95mm filter thread...
Thanks for the response! So I should buy regular Lee Foundation Kit holder and a seperate wide angle hood instead of the wide angle hood with the slots built in?
Chris
Can someone swing by Irvine and pick me up on their way :D
I'm in need of a grad ND solution (and a couple b&w filters) for my 8x10 camera, and am looking at the Lee shades with the built in filter slots. My biggest lens is a Nikkor-W 360mm f/5.6 (95mm filter...
Yes just a quick digisnap of your holder would be cool and really really appreciated guys.
Thanks in advance!

Wow nice images.Yes I'd like to use my 300 and 360 plasmats if possible.I hardly use my 240 G-Claron cause its hard to compose with in anything other than bright sunlight, I'm more low key.After...
Wow thanks for the video link guys.Doesn't get any clearer than that! Is it me or is that front axial tilt not centered on axis, and is there a notch or mark to zero out the front rise?
Hi again,
Yes I've thought about lighter lenses.I have a 240 mm G-Claron, also a 450mm Nikkor-M which isn't terribly large. I also have a 300mm Rodenstock Apo-Siranon-N which is my favorite and...
I look forward to seeing some pics. I'm down to either getting the Chamonix or Shen-Hao 8x10.I'm use to my calumet C-1 for rigidity, and am a little nervous about getting a wood field 8x10,...
That must have been pretty cool visiting his studio.I got some cool tips from him on our phone conversations, like cutting the back rail down on the C-1 for easier use with wide lenses. His tripod is...
Agree nice job.I'm guessing shadows on 3 and (N)-2 in the soup?
Me working the beach with my favorite photographic tool. (the card not the stick :D)

Don't feel bad, I've lived in So.Cal for 50 years and never even seen the iconic dune spots like Oceano and Death Valley :( Great work everyone!
I always proof with the 8 1/2 x 11" version of what even I'm using for large prints.
Chris
Adam, where did you buy it from? Want to try some too.
Thanks
Talked with them today and did confirm its the lack of Astia driving him to Digital.Anyway I've never been into color that much period.Definitely I identify more with Brett, Edward, Merg Ross, etc....
Ok found it in 3/4"...
Drew is this the stuff? http://www.findtape.com/shop/product.aspx?id=398&setscreen=1&width=1600&height=1074 Would you happen to have a picture of your holder so we can see exactly how you laid out...
Big instrument like the Anglo Australian and Hale scopes yes, images from smaller instruments, the likes of whose photos graced the covers of periodicals like Sky & Telescope for years no.I worked...
Yes astronomers did.For example well known astrophotographer Tony Hallas used a Pentax 67II with a modification that pumped gas into the body to keep the film flat
Yes pictures would be cool.I've got a couple 'junker' Lisco/Regal holders I've often thought about messing around with adhesive wise.
I'm actually looking at wood field 8x10's right now, hadnt considered wood film holders, but it certainly would add to the look.........hmmm :)
Guilty and quite a bit :D

I'm with Drew, Chris' cine tripod cost more than some cars, and his lenses are as modern and good as they get.His black C-1 is about the oldest piece of gear, but even that has been modified.I spent...
I think Cramer taught Rodney the whole digital work flow thing.I too wasn't even interested in doing color till I saw that pier 39 gallery.I like Burkett a lot, even own a print, but after seeing...
