Re: Jobo 3005 8x10 streaks on negative

I wonder if filling the tank fully during the pre soak is what might the problem. If the chambers are full, there's not much sloshing around, which is iirc, essential to proper development. fwiw, I...

Re: Can I Keep water in a JOBO?

If I expect to run film, I'll keep the CPP-2 filled with water for a couple of weeks. if It's going to be more than a month, I usually drain it. Every now and then I'll take the trough off and deep...

    Re: Drying Clips

my first preference are Jobo clips, then Patterson. Jobo's teeth are set kinda wide which I like for 120 film and the teeth are fine enough for sheet film.

they're kinda spendy but hoping to get one of these when I retire. storage could be an issue for those without garages etc. also it's e-assist vs e-bike (where you don't need to pedal if that's what...

Re: New rotary device for developing film

A way less expensive version of the Stark roller base. Cld be a good option if you don't process a lot of rolls in a tall tank. Wld be a step up from the usual roller bases (Unicolor/Simma). Kinda...

    Re: Wobbly Ries Tripod Head

I shld clarify - do you mean the camera can still tilt side to side such as when you're setting up your shot, or do you mean it just feels loose and wobbly ?

    Re: Wobbly Ries Tripod Head

ok, just looked at my A250 and I can only see a couple of places that could cause the sloppiness, if the side tilt lever is tight. If you take the head off the tripod, there are four Allen bolts (no...

  12. Re: Looking for my first 8x10 field camera, what are my best options in 2021?

Something to consider when jumping up, is what kind of budget will you have for the camera ? If you have the funds, and prefer the traditional knobs on the side for bed extensions, I'd suggest Canham...

  20. Re: Finding tripods for Large Format is kinda hard (daunting)? Favorite LF tripod?

I use a CF Gitzo for anything 5x7 and under. For 8x10 and 7x17 it's going to be Ries tripods with their two way heads. Have a surveyor tripod but never liked it, esp with the cord leg spread thing....

    Re: How many film holders?

probably at least 30-40 4x5, maybe 20 5x7, 25-30 8x10, and four 7x17. Am transitioning to 5x7 so will likely purge most of the 4x5, but keep the Riteways with the locks. Majority are stored in...

Re: 13x18 film holder in 5x7 camera?

what's Stefan said. the holders will work with the camera but while 5x7 film can be used, it won't sit snugly in the holder. so expect uneven rebates and or possible slippage off the rails.

    Re: Multiple Print Washers?

I have two washers, an 11x14 Summitek, and a 16x20 Kostiner. The Summitek washes 8x10 and sometimes 11x14, otherwise the Kostiner handles 11x14, and occasionally 16x20.

Re: Polaroid 20x24 Cameras and standard films?

since we're talking about 8x10, my go to for most photographs is a 300 5.6. I've used a 210 Fuji (inside lettering) for full and waist up portraits when I wanted more breathing room in the photo.

    Re: Polaroid 8x10 processor repair

Re: (possibly) taking the large jump

I'd suggest looking into 5x7 (am presuming you're shooting 4x5) and making contacts. I find 4x5 too small for contacts(ymmv) but 5x7 (and 8x10 for that matter) is almost a sweet spot.
  37. Re: Contact Printing Large Format negatives with a Leica Focomat V35?

Re: Film changing bag or changing tent?

bags are smaller and fold up small. tents are larger but have much needed interior room/volume. a must imo for loading holders.
  39. Re: Contact Printing Large Format negatives with a Leica Focomat V35?

if everything works properly, $200 is an absolute steal. make sure the lens aperture ring is smooth and not sticky as that could mean you could nudge the af off a bit. it had three modules, a b/w...
  40. Re: Contact Printing Large Format negatives with a Leica Fotomat V35?
