Isn't it amusing how riled up people get when their evolutionary buttons are pushed? Another fine portrait, Deardorffuser!

Re: What Happened to Dry Mounting Prints?

I think it was Bienfang, but I bought it a long time ago now. I probably did buy it from Light Impressions. I generally go a decade between getting a group of prints that I want to drymount and...

Re: What Happened to Dry Mounting Prints?

This thread reminds me that my last stock of dry mount tissue was defective. I'll be needing some soon. What do you folks recommend? I'll be mounting fiber-based double weight BWprints. No need...

Re: What Happened to Dry Mounting Prints?

Dry mounted prints simply look better over time. The mounting board becomes part of the piece. Sure, mount boards can become damaged, but so can unmounted prints.

    Re: 8x10 film processing

I don't see why not. I regularly process 4x5 in a tank that goes up to 5x7.
  19. Re: Rebuilding a Deardorff 11x14 Studio Stand

Update: cutting cables with a cold chisel works great. I used a hard rubber mallet and eye protection. The fittings I mentioned earlier work fine. To attach to the lead weight hooks, I did have...

The Expert tanks are expensive because they complicated, the tubes inside are bowed to allow solution to get to the back of the negatives, and because only a small number are sold. Consider, though,...

Re: Is folding a Toyo difficult?

The bellows are flexible. That's good for movements, but it means that the folds can become inverted fairly easily, and if the front standard isn't move all the way back to the rear standard, the...

No, but you have to check that the bellows are positioned properly before closing the camera. It takes a second or two to do.

  32. Re: Intellifaucet D250 - sticking valves

Take the two black plastic circles off the top of the unit. Use a quarter or a screw driver to turn the valves. I do this when I shot off the Intellifaucet and the water doesn't stop. Turn the...

    Re: 8x10 film processing

Start with trays, as Bryan says. It's cheap and can give great results. Regarding BTZS tubes, I liked them for 4x5, but I didn't as much for 8x10. At least my DIY versions weren't much fun to use,...
  34. Re: Rebuilding a Deardorff 11x14 Studio Stand

  35. Re: Rebuilding a Deardorff 11x14 Studio Stand

The swag-less connectors mentioned above just arrived. They fit on the carriage side of the cable, but the holes are too small for the hooks in the weight. I'll have to add a connector. The...

Good tips. I plan on using a scrap piece of steel instead of my anvil.

    How do these look?...

You can use a cold chisel to cut the cable. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzUhIlnvwZg
