  1. Re: Lina Bessonova Interview with Paula Chamlee (YouTube)

Hey there, Mike. I hope you're doing well! I came to this thread to post the same thing you did about her upcoming workshop. I was notified of that yesterday.

To anyone else reading this, a...
  2. Re: Photo travel by vehicle, what's your favorite?

Completely agree. Try driving one of those things through construction zones with temporary traffic barriers and striping. The car thinks it's smarter than the driver and is seemingly happy to steer...

    Re: Brett Weston Books

Get 'em both, if you can. Both are worthy of having in your collection.

As others have noted, Lodima published an 18-volume series of portfolios that are reproductions of those made by Brett....
  4. Re: Popular Photogenic Sites/Locations in Yosemite NP

Completely agree with that last sentence. There's far too much to see there to be concerned with copying what countless others have done before.

    Re: Lee Friedlander, et al.

Yes, he's alive and active. Try contacting him through one of his galleries, such as the Fraenkel:

I'm pretty sure he lives in New City, NY, but I don't have...

    Re: Michael A. Smith talk

This would be well worth hearing.
  13. Re: Should I shoot 120 and then transition to 4x5?

I second this idea. I find that even when using 35mm handheld, the experience of having used large formats already has really disciplined me and taught me to use the frame effectively.

Re: Photography schools: USC or UCLA???

As a Stanford employee, I would think you'd have a greater annoyance with UCLA's fight song, since it's the same song you hear across the Bay.

Re: Just saying hi everyone! New here.

Hi, Laura. I commute to Salem for work 2-3 times a week. Bush Park was very nice yesterday afternoon. There is a lot of value in this forum, and you'll probably learn quite a bit.

Re: Shen Hao TZ 45-IIA camera.

    Michael,

The Shen-Hao is a great way to get into large format photography. It's relatively inexpensive, offers lots of movements, and a reasonable bellows draw. I've read that it's heavier than...
