While slightly shorter than 600mm, the 21 1/4" (540mm) Kodak Copying Ektanon is exquisitely sharp and can be had for peanuts. 15-blade aperture for silky smooth bokeh as well.
Not to spam all of the Durst 1200 threads, but I use a VLS501 that came with a faulty EST power supply. Rather than try to repair, I use a modern switching power supply that's been going strong for...
I was unsure whether to post this in the Still Life thread or here, but I feel a bit pretentious calling this a still life.

Not sure about the blades themselves, but there are several different front and rear thread sizes and lens cell spacing options for the Ilex #5. I'm also trying to piece together a working one for...

Bryan, nice photos but the first one is a Thunderbird, not a Cobra. The Aero Ektar makes for awesome specular highlights.
I took an Alan Ross workshop at Dallas Center for Photography, and it was fantastic. He mostly does 1-on-1 workshops as far as I know, and I would definitely recommend him.
I use an off-the shelf 24V power supply on my Durst: https://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?140014-Using-a-modern-power-supply-with-an-old-enlarger-(Durst-1200-DIY)
I stand corrected! Thanks for the info!
With the head you currently have, you'll have to use filters to change contrast. The Ilford MG Head has a computer-controlled filter built in to the head. You basically punch in the contrast number...
Gudmundur, what a nice space. What light source is that in place of the condensers in the Durst 184? I saw in another thread it's a cold head, but which kind?

 Color me jealous. I saw a Durst 138 head on a 184 chassis for free recently, but it was rusty and abused.
I think a condenser head Durst 184 that's missing the condensers also might make...
A rare (for me) color shot. Velvia 50, Hasselblad 500C/M on a non-T* 80mm. Florida Keys along the overseas highway. Color is hard to get right for me in post, but it's a good exercise to try and...
Thanks for posting this JP. I'll be sure to check it out this summer when we're visiting my in-laws in Liberty.
Very nice work, Andrew. How was Caddo Lake from an LF perspective? I'd like to plan a trip there but it looks like solid ground for tripods is scarce.
Nice work. I really like the slide-out light table.
We really need to get something going again. These meetups don't tend to last more than a few meetings, but I always enjoy the ones I have attended. I do understand that it's a lot of work to keep...
The ATN monocle has been a game changer for me, but the harness is really fiddly and it's almost impossible to use with glasses.
Didn't see an April thread yet, so I went ahead and started it.
My wife had her baby shower last month and I set up the Deardorff and asked to take a photo of my wife and her aunt. Didn't have...
Ruilourosa,
If you look in the link I posted above, I am using an industrial power supply for my L1200. If you're using a modern "switching" power supply, you must have the switch/relay on the load...
When I purchased a VLS500 head for my Durst, the fan wouldn't work. Turns out that the fan motor itself was bad (would not turn when hooked up directly to a 24V supply) and I could not find an exact...
Brian, I am definitely getting a Porter feel from this. I saw one of his dye transfer prints in person at the Center for Creative Photography, and his use of the blue sky reflections really stood...
Hi from Central Texas!
Great article John. I really enjoy the diesel streamliners as a compliment to the rail-scapes without trains. I also appreciated looking at the artists you listed as inspirations. Keep up the good...
That's a neat idea Eric, I like the idea of mounting the LED to the enlarger. Much less space than using a dedicated enlarger to do the pre-flash.

Here's a link to how I fixed my missing EST 500 on my Durst...
Bill, that's really nice. I love the feeling of depth from the fog and the contrast between the trunk and the leaves. Really calm feeling but also kind of surreal. Great photo.
Snuck in just under the radar with this one: shot, developed, and scanned in November!
3 generations in this shot: Barb, Emily, and our halfway-finished baby girl. Deardorff V8, HP5+ in Pyrocat...
I believe the lever on the left side is either a neutral density filter or engages/disengages the dichroic filters. Durst users manuals are kinda limited in information but this head pretty much...
Scott, I can smell those shakers from here. Is your S8 in an explosion proof enclosure :) ? Nice photos by the way.
I agree with this assessment, and notice it especially with HP5+ and Tri-X in medium format. They appear very sharp compared to 4x5 HP5 on the same sized papers.
Hi Marlon,
Where in Texas? There's a lot of folks from all the big cities here on the LFF board.
Classy response to the haters, Ben.
I for one like to draw inspiration from YouTube videos. I have taught myself LF photography by watching videos, reading books, and reading forums, and then...
Yeolde, these pair really nicely together, especially with the horizon in the same location in both photos. Great colors.
These are really nice. I like the tight cropping.

Hi Sneetch,
If you're unable to repair your EST, take a look at what I did when my AC1200 power supply went out: Link
I seem to only be taking photos at the Pioneer Air Museum in Kingsbury, TX these days. Here's one from April 2018. I think the car is Model T based, maybe Mr. Galli can identify? Didn't get a look...
Hi Mike, welcome. Seems to be some overlap between wooden cameras and British roadsters :) . I too am a disciple of Lucas, prince of darkness.
