    Re: Chamonix vs. Xxxxx?

Essentially your thread got hijacked Adam. Don't worry about it.... just get the camera you're after and start photographing. You learn more as you go along....and as necessary.

    Re: Chamonix vs. Xxxxx?

I see your predicament now Alan. I've never used a camera with a low friction focus track, so I don't have a solution for you, other than to suggest dropping Hugo Z a message since he's also a...

Alan, I use the loupe to check focus, once i've gotten as close as I can with both eyes and no loupe. I don't think view cameras are really meant to be focused with one hand, as you've always...

    Re: Chamonix vs. Xxxxx?

Bryan, just a couple of points. As far as a 'bloated' camera line, Shen Hao offers 3 - 8x10 models and 6 - 4x5 cameras....more than Chamonix. The early Shen-Hao 4x5s weren't really up to the...

Thank you CB, I've done a lot of handheld work w the Fuji. I love 6x8, but i've gone to the Plaubel Makina 670 for its more manageable packed size, & yes it's prairie oysters up here....

Re: Use 4x5 Beseler for smaller film?

Miket, the 45MXT is a reliable workhorse. I use one with a Zone VI VC head for formats up to 4x5. I've got 50, 80, 105, 150 lenses. For large prints from MF as well as 4x5 & 5x7 I use my Durst 138...

Re: Chamonix 57N + Technika Lens Board

  35. Re: Fujinon C 450mm F/12 .5 (or another) to replace Fujinon T 400mm F/8 for Lightweig

Just to stray back towards the original post. The Fuji 400T weighs 700grams..... the 450 C weight 270 grams. Neither will break your back. 700grams is a pound and a half (ish).... if you need/like...
