  1. Re: Uneven Development -- 5X7's in Stearman Press 8X10 Tray

Also, check for the three center indents once you have your sheets loaded. If you can feel them, the sheets are far enough apart.
  2. Re: Uneven Development -- 5X7's in Stearman Press 8X10 Tray

My camera passed the flashlight test. It will be interesting to see whether other types of development tanks fail to cure the problem. My bellows were newly installed in 2019, so I would be quite...

    Gunk on Negatives

The depressing quest for a daylight processing solution for 5x7 continues.

I tried using this reel from 20th Century Camera:

  4. Re: the thread for Kodak XTOL quality control issues

They're asking me to pay more for their increasingly unreliable products.
  5. Re: the thread for Kodak XTOL quality control issues

The list just keeps going with Kodak. Didn't they announce recently that they're raising their prices?
  6. Re: Uneven Development -- 5X7's in Stearman Press 8X10 Tray

Yes, unfortunately the agitation technique doesn’t seem to affect outcome.

  7. Re: Uneven Development -- 5X7's in Stearman Press 8X10 Tray

Unfortunately, my original problem has recurred, even with the revised agitation technique. The sky seems to be a particularly problematic area. I've basically given up on the Stearman Press tray...
  8. Re: Linhof grip does not seem to fit my Master Technika

Is there a lever on the grip like the one pictured, and is it rotated counter-clockwise?

  9. Re: Help with cable release on a Technika board and Merry Christmas

I don't think he necessarily has to remove screws. Mine just slides off -- which is one of the reasons I don't like it!
  10. Re: Help please and Merry Christmas

You can get a Linhof heavy duty cable release from B&H. The tip will snap into the socket. Personally, I find these sockets more trouble than they are worth. You might want to consider removing it...
  11. Re: Do's and Don't's of Linhof Technika IV

Curious to know how you close the camera without the cam. If I take my cam out, a spring pushes the socket that it fits into all the way to the left hand side, and I'm pretty sure that I couldn't...
  12. Re: Do's and Don't's of Linhof Technika IV

I would, but none is available.
  13. Re: Do's and Don't's of Linhof Technika IV

Just figured it out: There's a spring with a circular tab which when depressed enables you to move the rail backwards. Had no idea that you could do that!
  14. Re: Do's and Don't's of Linhof Technika IV

How do you move the rail back to the standard when it's in the storage position? My Technika IV doesn't have an obvious way to do this.

When you say "lower the bottom plate", are you talking...

Re: Light Straw Colored D-76 Powder

I would describe the last batch of D-76 that I bought as "light cocoa" rather than light straw. ID-11 is a safe alternative. Can you describe the packaging? I'm curious.

Can anyone recommend a hood for this lens? The flare is sometimes quite prominent. Thank you.

See my response to Chuck Pere. Looking at an unprocessed sheet doesn't inspire confidence in the product that Kodak is putting out!

Thank you. I laboriously clone stamped out the specks. If no-one looks too hard, maybe I'll get away with it!

Good thinking! At your suggestion, I sacrificed a sheet for the cause of science. At first I didn't notice anything, but when looking carefully under direct light, specks of dirt (or something) are...

I've had problems with Kodak lately: sheets of film without notches, brown D-76 and so on. There does seem to be some sort of a quality control issue over there. I...

I don't have a microscope, but I tried looking with the same 4X loupe I use when composing. It looks like there might be small chips in the emulsion, but I can't really tell.

    I've seen small...

    What are these annoying blemishes?

What causes these black spots? Look at the bottom of the image in particular. I'm noticing these when developing Tri-x in Rodinal.

They're visible throughout the image, but tend to appear...

Are there notches on the inside of one of the rails? The standard should snap into place when it hits the first one of them.

  29. Ever use the tripod socket in the bed of a Linhof Technika 5X7?

The position of this thing sure seems dubious to me...

Must be for use with a real heavy lens extended *way* out.
  30. Re: Uneven Development -- 5X7's in Stearman Press 8X10 Tray

Thanks, everyone. After a horrific experience with B's 5X7 reel, I decided to give the SP-810 another try. I developed two sheets in 1020ml of Rodinal (1:50) and used a semi-random agitating...

  32. Re: Uneven Development -- 5X7's in Stearman Press 8X10 Tray

Intriguing idea. In this case, the channels I'm referring to are on the emulsion side. "Channels" was probably not the best term. I should have said that the plastic hold-down tabs cause currents...

  35. Uneven Development -- 5X7's in Stearman Press 8X10 Tray
