Re: How do you set up your tripod?

Nothing special. I just hold the tripod at approximate height, drop the legs, then tighten. With uneven terrain, there's a little more fiddling involved...but I try to get the tripod as level as...
  3. Re: Anyone Use Shanghai GP3 Film in 4x5 and 8x10

I have a box of 8x10, and a couple of boxes of 4x5. I've gone through a few sheets of both formats, and was pleased. Here is one I shot on 8x10 last Spring. EI 50. It was developed in Pyrocat-HD.

Re: I'm very satisfied to be here

Welcome to the large format forum. I'm assuming you work with cameras or film that is 4x5 and larger? Rules? Well, this is a large format forum so one is expected to post images captured by large...
  8. Re: Fidelity elite 8x10 film holder question

I have a few holders that are like that. I too was concerned but all was good after I checked them with xray film.

I think he's still in business... I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole, though!
  10. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

Pyrocat-HD works nicely with Ektascan and double-sided (green latitude). Been doing it this way since about 2008. Flat bottomed tray. 5 sec gentle agitation every minute. I always expose through a...

  12. Re: Canon pro 1000 for digital negatives

I remember reading somewhere... could have been over at photrio.... where someone struggled making digital negatives with the 1000. I'm pretty sure its doable, though. Heck, we've made digital paper...

Re: New Ilford film came unsealed

It's unusual. In fact, I've never seen that before and I've been using Ilford sheet films for decades. I'd take a sheet out and take a photo, just to make sure all is good.

The only time I use Vit C is in Caffenol. Some formulas are excellent at taming long ranges, or exceptionally contrasty film such as Adox CMS 20.
