    Printing on canvas: a question

I scan my LF negatives so that I can digitize them. I've just experimented with printing on Epson Exhibition Canvas. I'm wondering if I have to protect the surface of the canvas by applying a spray...
  4. Re: Jobo Expert Sheet Drum OR Mod54 Large Format Film Processor?

Thanks, Grat. I didn't mention the Stearman because the holders look a bit flimsy to me. Also, I'd rather be able to develop more than four at a time. But thanks for the info, nonetheless.
  5. Re: Jobo Expert Sheet Drum OR Mod54 Large Format Film Processor?

Thanks, Ari! Do you have the whole Jobo processing system, or do you just roll the tanks on a countertop?
  6. Jobo Expert Sheet Drum OR Mod54 Large Format Film Processor?

I have been successfully tray developing black & white sheet film, both 4x5 and 8x10, for 30 years. I'm about to attempt developing 4x5 color negatives and I'm thinking that I won't be able to...

Re: Need Help With a Repair of my Ebony

    RK,

Many thanks for your thoughtful response. I thought the wood might have been at play, too. In the end, however, the gear just needed a touch of powdered graphite.

Re: Need Help With a Repair of my Ebony

    Thanks, Keith,

I rolled it off the rack as you suggested. By doing so, I was able to pinpoint in the middle set of knobs exactly where the mechanism was binding. (It wasn't an alignment issue). I...

Need Help With a Repair of my Ebony

Suddenly one of the focusing gear tracks on my 8x10 Ebony is binding up. Even with the locking knob loose it's hard to turn the focusing knob, and when I do a grinding sound is produced. I seem to...

Actually, the bag has a set of interior straps. They hold the tripod in place, but that hasn't prevented some damage. But thanks for thinking of it!

  30. Re: Lighting for Making Tintype Copies of Conventional Prints

  31. Re: Lighting for Making Tintype Copies of Conventional Prints

No pixilation that I can detect. There's a very subtle "hint" that the image has been copied, however, rather than having been shot live. I can't describe it with any precision, but it looks copied...
  32. Re: Lighting for Making Tintype Copies of Conventional Prints

I had some moderate success using Mark's suggestion: Made a positive transparency, placed it into the enlarger, and exposed it directly onto the plate. Here are some results:
