    Re: 210mm lens for 8x10?

The Computar 210mm as well as some Kowa 210mm's (which I have) cover 8x10 very nicely but command a market price that can break the budget at times. Sometimes stepping up slightly to a 240mm (for...

My bulb length checks out close to yours (just shy of 4" from the end of the bulb to the beginning of the white ceramic base) but the bulb diameter spec of 1 3/8" listed above for the COLAMP 2000...
  3. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

Thanks for the info. Any idea of the diameter of these bulbs?
  4. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

Seems like a manageable task to undertake albeit slowly and not being to aggressive with it. My next question is to ensure that the G38 Mogul bi post pins will work. I will probably have to pull my...

Re: Intrepid 8x10 - Fresnel lens

Quite honestly I have a fresnel on my Canham 8x10 woodie that came from the factory with the camera and put a fine hand ground ground glass on my Intrepid 8x10 (after the original GG was broken in...
  6. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

As was pointed out in this exchange, it is apparent that substitute bulbs appear to be available but the limiting factor is getting them through the top opening in the reflector. Some crude...
  7. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

I am going to take some measurements of the pins on mine and hope to go down the same road to see if I can find a proper "fit".
  8. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

Finding a replacement for the 2,000 watt bulbs would be a god send. Anyone have any ideas? Is the used market and being patient the only option?

Re: Linhof Tripod Parts - ?

Wow. From the depths of despair to a couple of viable options. Wonders never cease. I have one of those massive Linhof Heavy Duty Tripods so it is good to know that there is an option for parts.

Re: Lens for 8x10 Intrepid newbie

Good idea to protect the shutter and the lens and also get a filter in play. I was similarly impressed by the increased coverage of the single rear lens element. Going to make a negative with this...

Re: Lens for 8x10 Intrepid newbie

I shoot B&W as well. Just to make sure I understand what you are saying, if your normal exposure would come in at f45 you would shoot the image at f22 (just using f stops) absent the front element.

Re: Linhof Tripod Parts - ?

Those parts are long since gone so your only option is to fabricate (McGiver) one for yourself. The metal part would have to be machined to the receiving thread and bent to the correct angle. Someone...

At lunchtime I set up the 8x10 and removed the front element of the Doctor 240 Germinar W and sure enough, what looks like a fine 450mm image showed up on the ground glass. Might you have some...

  19. Re: Korona 12x20 compatibility with Lotus or Chamonix Film Holders?

Going with a set of consistent holders and then fitting them to the camera is the way to go. I S&S holders that Richard Ritter set up the back to and they work great.

Wish I could be there. Won't be in town until Mid March. Next time I will make arrangements to coordinate special events like this one because they only happen occasionally. Thanks!

    Re: Contact printing light source?

Agree. Plus you have the ability to use a cheap lens as exposure control and can integrate the multi grade filters even below the lens since it is just a contact print and not an optical enlargement....

    Re: Intrepid cameras

I purchased a Mark II 8x10 Intrepid late last year. Took five + months to get but since I have other 8x10 cameras to use it was not that big a deal. It fits a role as a pack camera with a series of...
  23. Re: Any Clayton chemical customers here?

Finding Kodak's unwillingness to sell 5 gallons of fixer concentrate, I have turned to Clayton fixer and it works fine. I will continue to use it without hesitation.
  24. Re: Durst CLS 1840 Color Enlarger Rewire Question

Great to hear. When I had the enlarger on and ran it for a couple of minutes with the fan on it did not seem to get excessively hot. I was hoping what you confirmed with your response. Thanks!
  25. Re: Durst CLS 1840 Color Enlarger Rewire Question

I will surely find some fire resistant fiberglass panels and install then for the same reason. I want to monitor the existing fan in the head and see how it dissipates heat as my Plan B is to install...

    Re: contact prints

Yes it is nice to have a large vacuum frame and pump / UV printer but it is by no means necessary particularly with silver prints. I find that a 80 year old Century spring back contact frame (even...
  28. Re: Large Format Camera - Focusing architecture (in a hangar)

Agree. I would think that a wide angle lens around 90mm on 4x5 would be a much better option as it relates to critical focus and coverage.
  29. Re: Durst CLS 1840 Color Enlarger Rewire Question

I certainly will Luis. Contacting the electrician that helped me install the special plug receptacle. Since it was a while ago I want to make sure he made it a 220V connection. I am not about to just...

  33. Durst CLS 1840 Color Enlarger Rewire Question
