  1. Re: What’s your most “unpopular” opinion about LF?

I don't think Epson scan outputs dng files

  2. Re: Life after E6 and large format transparencies

I'm a younger guy who just got a bessler print processor, and would like to start ra4 printing. Have lots of experience with silver gelatin and inkjet, both film scans and digital. I don't like...
  3. Re: Is it possible/practical to make digital negative for use in an enlarger?

I've messed around with digital negatives, they don't enlarge well at all. They honestly barely hold up when contact printed. Inkjet just doesn't have the resolution.

    Re: Resolution Comparison Between Films?

Glad I'm not crazy! I've always thought inkjet prints look pixelated, especially close up. Too bad I can't make color prints.

    Re: adox cms 20 ii

I haven't tried it, but suggest rpx 25. Ive used it in 35mm and it's awesome! Very fine and usable 9 stop tonal range at 25 EI. Its also much cheaper

  6. Re: A good book on LF exposure, reciprocity and bellows extension exposure compensati

It's pretty simple to calculate yourself. Since f stop is a ratio of the lens focal length to the diameter of the lens pupil. Think of macro shots as using a longer focal length lens. So just...

    Re: Resolution Comparison Between Films?

B/w films generally have larger grain than color negative or positive at a given ISO. There are certain film/dev combos that this doesn't hold for. I've found that grain size and acutance are often...
  8. Re: Scanning Provia/transparencies with a digital camera: ICC profiling?

The main problem with scanning slides is getting what you see on a screen. Shooting a color target then scanning that and building a LUT, icc, or input profile will color correct your slide, by...
  9. Re: Question for chemistry--especially D-23--experts

If d23 is similar to perceptol, ilford doesn't recommend reuse of any kind for diluted applications. When I use perceptol I use the most dilute combo and use one shot.

It doesn't let me pick US as a shipping designation? Do I have to call and set something up?

I've been interested in b/w slides, but havent tried them yet. I'm not interested in color slides, tho.

Duratrans looks interesting! It says that it's a special slide film digitally exposed. Does anyone have any experience with this product? How does it compare to slide film.

  17. Re: Presentation of LF slides for display, exhibition, collection, and sale.

No doubt! There is something magical about a slide on a light table that no digital system can reproduce, even the best drum scanners.

The question still stands. Do you remember how they were...
  18. Re: Presentation of LF slides for display, exhibition, collection, and sale.

I was planning on sandwiching the slide in museum glass, which may reduce fading. I would also expect the brightness of the light to the primary factor in the fading rate. Perhaps I can do some...
  19. Re: Presentation of LF slides for display, exhibition, collection, and sale.

This is for projector fading. The report states that the projects are many times brighter than direct sunlight. Even bright light tables are dimmer than that. I'm not sure if the data holds for my...

Has anyone presented LF slides at an exhibition/gallery? The slides are obviously very pretty on a light table, but difficult to present. My initial thoughts are to sandwich the slide between 2...
  23. Re: Velvia 50 4x5 and 8x10 and Fujicolor 160NS Professional 120 discontinued

Talked to the ULF Kodak film seller in Arizona. His Kodak rep said that e100 is here to stay, in all sheet formats even custom sizes. He does 30k a month in ULF and bulk order sheet film alone,...
  24. Re: Your experience with Perceptol and Microphen, compared to ID-11 - Some questions

I'm a big fan of perceptol and microphen for various emulsions in several dilutions. Some combos I've tried:

Hp5@320 perceptol+3: very flat, great midtone detail, at least 12 stops of dynamic...
