  1. Re: I Built Myself a 16×20-Inch Camera in 10 Hours

Great skills, both as artist and in handywork.
The faucet comment should appeal to anyone who has ever "messed" with silver nitrate.

    Re: Elinchrom 404, Rebuild

Bernice is spot on. Without the "snail" setting, I would blow out my fuses each time I fire the 5x 404 generators for collodion pictures . Try to shoot a group portrait at 1 ISO at F 16 with lights...

    Re: Elinchrom 404, Rebuild

    A few thoughts:
Two 404's with a twin 8000 w/sec head do not seem to be an f-stop brighter than a single 404 with a 4000 w/sec head (closer to 1/2 f-stop). Might be specific to my rig though.
    The...

    Re: Elinchrom 404, Rebuild

I have several of these with 8000w heads. Ideal for wetplate and needed when using modifiers.
Servicing them is not for the faint of heart, the capacitors can kill easily.

    Re: Drying Clips

When I started my photographer's apprenticeship some fourty years ago, I was told to use these:

  7. Re: Why would someone cut out the core of a film back?

    Consider yourself lucky !
That is how I modified one of my own 5x7 holders for wet plate.
It is pretty tricky, but when done well, you get to load plates that have the exact same size as 5x7 film....

    Re: How many film holders?

I used to have many Fidelity, Sinar or Linhof holders.
Although doing mostly group portraits, I never needed more than three 5x7 holders for the TMY film.
There was never time to shoot more....

Re: Should there be a Wet Plate subforum?

    1) Methylene chloride works best for assembling silver and fixer tanks.
    2) Red plexiglass is not opaque to UV light.

  14. Re: how to avoid the lens shade / compendium in the image

This is one of the reasons many groundglasses are clipped at the corner; the aerial image tells you if movements are too extreme (not all blades of the diaphragm are visible) or if the shade is in...

  17. Re: Technika owners -- do you use the rear movements?

Technikas are great cameras. But their rear movements are a pain. If you ever used an assymetric back (such as a Sinar P or an Ebony "U" series) going back to front movements will be hard. These...

Re: Leaving a lens on a Ebony 57SUE

An apo-symmar 210 fits on mine, so the G-Claron should not be a problem (I also use the 150mm G-Claron, it covers5x7). The metal extention retracts further than the wodden one, without protuding on...

Look at ebay's "completed items". Without doing that kind of homework, this community will think that you consider it a free marketing service. Welcome to the forum anyway.
