Re: Post Your Photos Made At Close Distance

That's just a sweet image! Very clever, Merg.
  2. Re: Anyone have experience fixing a Rittreck View?

Since you are in Japan, you should be able to find an original 5x7 back for it. It is a lot of camera to lug around for 4x5. Send me your email and I'll send you an instruction manual.

Is that a 5x7 sliding back on a 7x11 camera?
  4. Re: Bought a nice Linhof Master Technika Classic. Can I do the CLA myself to save mon

And, just a comment, my favorite 4x5 is a Tech III bought off the list a decade or so ago for $200. As soon as I fell in love with it, I decided I needed a spare so that I would not ever be without...
  5. Re: Scoville Albion Camera, sized 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 camera

Raymond, that 152 Ektar would be ideal for 4x5 but since it is a Tessar formula probably won't stretch well to 5x7 except at very close distances. The vintage normal lens for a 5x7 would be more like...

OK, it's from a found 5x7 glass plate, photographer and camera unknown, but it shows what went into building some of the bridges now photographed. This one is dated 1901 in the negative and is the...

    Re: Durst Laborator 138?

I have a nice Laborador SM 183 (think a 138 head on a 184 chassis) complete with a box of various condensers, a spare top glass for the holder, and some bulbs(!) that cost me all of $145. It was...
  9. Re: Linhof Technika III with Fujinon 90mm f/5.6

    Re: Elwood enlarger

The special center filter is critical to good performance. I tried to make one for the Elwood I had - then I got an Omega E.
  11. Re: Considering Fabricating Lens Board for Century Graphic

Hobby shop multi layer plywood works great.
  12. Re: press-on lens shade for 203mm Ektar?

Now, now, Keith. I may have one slightly altered filter holder. Or maybe two.

  14. Re: Retaining ring for Wollensak 8x10 Rapid Symmetrical lens

Hot glue around the threads on the back works great. Holds well even for heavier lenses and is fairly easy to remove.
  15. Re: Still can't find a lens for the Travelwide 4x5 years later!

I have, and have used, both the 65 f/8 Super-Angulon and the 90 Angulon on my Travelwide. The 65 really works nicely but does take a little care for composing to get an interesting picture. Best to...

    Re: Rodenstock fitting flange

Neat camera and stand! Since it will not be traveling about the countryside you might consider the universal flange, better known as hot glue. I've used it on much heavier lenses that did get...

    Re: Color of Ansco/PF 130

If the glycin gets old that will happen. If the image comes up in the usual time (hard to tell if submerged in the dark 130 though) then it is working OK. Keep your spare well sealed glycin in the...
  19. Re: Ross . London 6in Homocentric 1:6.3 lens

I suspect that it will work at T and B settings and perhaps at one other speed no matter where it is set on the dial (the pistons in the cylinders control the other speeds). Try it!

Fermat, when you say "as much light" are you referring to weight or brightness of wide open focusing?
  23. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

I use the red superbrightled at a distance of 8 to 10 feet to cut 8x10 Ektascan down to 3 1/4 / 4 1/4 and load it in a Graflex bagmag. No problem.

    Re: 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 cameras?

    Re: Good 210 for 4x5??

Another plug for the Rodenstock 210mm f/6.8. A late design triplet and multicoated that will be found in a newer shutter for a low price. Great performance at f/8 and smaller and lightweight.

My little Dallmeyer is a 135mm f/16 Rectilinear 1a with wheel stops. With a serial number of 40,800 something, I believe it is quite a bit later, say 1886. It is a wonderful lens on 4x5.
