    Re: Lousy Dagor

    Well, I still have mine. An ancient thread, but worth the upkeep. Have the 3 WA, 3 5/8 3/8 & 6 1/2", The 6 1/2 uncoated from circa 1946 Golden 6, 8 1/4 9 1/2, 12 & 14" MC Kern. Also have Dagor...

    Re: De Vere Enlarger

It might help if you post some photos of the enlarger so see if someone has a manual for it. Like IC said, it's like killing a fly with a shot gun. It will get the job done, but there may be easier...

    Re: Thin negs

There are usually two reasons why negatives may be thin: you under exposed or you under developed. The second includes using ancient developers and other stupidities. L

  6. Re: Looking for my first 8x10 field camera, what are my best options in 2021?

+1 I think I'm up to 6 or 7, 4x5, 5x7 8x10 & 11x14. But they won't buy an american classic used for hundreds of thousands of images in the 50's-70's. They'd rather buy the cheapest camera made...
  7. Re: Deardorff 8x10 lens board mounting problem.

Sandpaper. Whomever built the board did not follow Deardorff specs. If you bought it new, return it and tell them to send you one that fits. If not new, sandpaper and a file until it fits. L

    Re: Durst Laborator 138?

Can certainly understand. As a comparison, I bought an SM-183 some 30 years ago for $2,000.00 plus shipping from Utah to Louisiana. It's the L-184 base with the 138 camera. So basically a very...

Re: shutters compatible with 7" Dagor?

Have a 6” Golden Dagor mounted by Steve Grimes before he left the planet. Sent him the loose cells and a Copal 0 and he did the rest. A really fine mounting job.

    Re: Durst Laborator 138?

As noted above, one of the best enlargers you can get. If you get a complete one in good working order it's a piece of cake. The nightmare comes if you have to find parts to either complete it or...

Dave SKG can mount it in a Copal but it may take a machined adapter which will cost.
  16. Re: Devere 5108 - Understanding the Master Negative Carrier System

You should be able to put plain 8x10 glass on the bottom of the 8x10 carrier and half of the 2009 adapter plate on top, either with AN glass or the glassles 4x5 mask. That will at least get you...
  17. Re: Devere 5108 - Understanding the Master Negative Carrier System

Do you have both halves of the 2009 adapter plate? If not, you'll have to find one new or used. The 504 carrier cannot be used on the 5108!

Re: Which field camera for usage with 90mm lens

Any camera that you can place the front and rear frames 90mm or less apart should work. I believe that would include many (most) 4x5 field cameras.
  24. Re: I'm not sure if it's a popular size, but can I get some 5x7 camera recommendation

For the same reason I went to 8x10. Four times the real estate and I do have both a Durst 138 and a DeVere 5108.

Yup, just awful.....guess that's why I own 6 of them! If you want to photograph architecture, get a Sinar F. Only own 3 of those!

  32. Re: Can the Devere 507 be converted to the 5108?

If you can get the 507 frame reasonably, that's the path I'd take since you have all the 5108 parts. No reason to re-invent the wheel. L

  38. Re: Looking for my first 8x10 field camera, what are my best options in 2021?

I bought my last V8 for his budget price, my "user" for less than that. That way, you get a classic camera made in the US, not an import made at the cheapest price for people "new" to large format....
