  1. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

I had similar results with a different developer. I've stopped using the film for that reason. Hopefully, you'll figure it out, but I lacked the patience.

Re: Lens for 8x10 Intrepid newbie

Yep. Also, as I said earlier, I had SK Grimes make an adapter that goes from my shutter to 52mm. That way I can use 52mm filters on the lens. I use a clear one for some protection of the inner...

    Re: Screen Cezanne Users Unite

The standard tray is acrylic with an anti-Newton texture. My guess is that the glass tray is really glass, and it doesn't have a texture. Is that right?

Re: Paths to Super Clean Sheet Film?

Distilled water is inexpensive. Filters can emit particulate, such as carbon particles, that can cause problems with film. At one point, I put in a new whole-house filter. A few days later, I...

    Re: 6x17 Images

I agree! Terrific color, good composition......Whenever Tuco posts his GX617 images, I start looking for one for sale... I borrowed one for a day and loved it, but they're still pretty spendy.

    Re: Haze inside lens

No. If the haze occurs between cemented elements, you won't be able to clean it off without separating, cleaning, and re-gluing the element. Haze will predominantly lower contrast and lead to flare.

Re: Lens for 8x10 Intrepid newbie

I use 240 more than 300, but that's personal preference. Both are terrific lenses. The 240 might be usable as a convertible lens. My 240 Doctor Optic is, giving about 450mm with the front removed. ...

    Re: 8x10 Portrait Lenses

I have one of the uncoated Royal Air Force Aviars. It's a fine lens. I bought a new 360 Japanese Commercial Ektar off of Ebay not that long ago for $100. There were a bunch of them for sale. It was...

A 420 Fujinon L would be a good choice. I used one a 2D for awhile. Otherwise a Commercial Ektar, or maybe one of the Congo/Osaka clones. I like APO Nikkors in longer lengths, but they don't come...

    Re: 11x14 Deardorff Studio Camera

I striped the paint from my columns. It was a bit of a pain, but in my case the paint was powdering off. After I cleaned them up, I used Boeshield as a protective coating. So far, so good, and...

  26. Re: Rebuilding a Deardorff 11x14 Studio Stand

That's what I think, too. Amazon has quite a selection. It looks like most have to have a set screw drilled and tapped to hold knob to the spindle.

Mike, if you feel like replacing the aircraft cable, I had to buy way too much. I'd be happy to send you enough. It's high quality stainless steel. I linked to it earlier in this thread.
