  1. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

FYI for anyone interested, I got a iso-luminant (same brightness all across) image of the color gamut in HSL space, and took a photo of it with Fuji HR-U green xray film
    Then lined up the spectrum...
  2. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

A few more xray HR-U home rolled 120 film samples (645 format) since it cut me off at 10 attachments from my immediately previous post above this one. All were shot on a pentax 645 with either a...
  3. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

I haven't read all 654 pages, so maybe I'm not the first one to try this, but I'm happy to announce my experiments with cutting X-ray film into 35mm and 120 film have been successful!

    Fuji sells...
  4. Re: X-ray Film example and comparison.

I just use compensating development (since xray was so contrasty), so exact timing of development doesn't matter anyway, by the fundamental nature of compensating development.

    Weirdly, d-76...
  5. Re: X-ray Film example and comparison.

I think it is described in this thread a few times, but yes, you strip it after processing is all completed (because that's when the other emulsion is most hardened and resilient).

    All i do is lay...
  6. Re: X-ray Film example and comparison.

Yes, in fact it ONLY works with a single side emulsion. I used to only use mammo film which is one sides, but now I also do it with double sided emulsions since I learned how to strip off the side...
  7. Visible images on non-developed film left out for hours

I botched loading some film and decided it would be too much of a scratch potential to use, but instead of throwing it away, just tossed it on my table, a couple sheets of it.

    Next day, the part...

Re: Confused about X-ray bleaching procedure

I will send you a large format print of my first born.
  9. Re: My First large format and I want to buy and load film? I need help

If you want to practice loading in the light, just sacrifice one sheet of film (take it out in your light tight dark room, reclose the box!) and load it/unload it over and over until youre...

Re: Confused about X-ray bleaching procedure

Ding ding! We have a winner.

got some new bleach at the store and it works just fine. The other stuff still smelled like strong bleach.... weird.

Re: Confused about X-ray bleaching procedure

Both sides have emulsions, so which side I choose shouldn't matter in terms of whether the bleach works (it should matter in terms of whether I ruin my photo, but that's a different issue).

    In any...

Re: Confused about X-ray bleaching procedure

Okay I just got my first x ray film in the mail and developed some test shots. Fuji half speed blue.

Bleach after development did absolutely nothing. Well, it sort of changed the color of the...

    Confused about X-ray bleaching procedure

So I've seen plenty of descriptions of how to bleach off one side of the emulsion on two-sided X-ray paper, exactly how to do it, etc. But very frustratingly, in none of the dozen or two dozen...
  15. Re: X-ray Film example and comparison.

Using the following tube design, you can process an 8x10 sheet evenly in daylight with LESS than 0.25 liters of each chemical (which is sufficient to not become exhausted on that one sheet. I get by...
