  1. Re: Should Kodak/Fuji rethink color sheet film for room temp processing?

Little or no fundamental R, but a fair bit of D in recent years - Kodak reformulating Ektachrome to enable bringing it back to production, new-generation Multigrade RC emulsion at Harman/Ilford,...

    Re: Sunny !6 Users Unite!

For sure - if the process requires it, then of course that's what you need to do. There's no merit in making things more complex than they need to be, but there's also no virtue in fetishizing...

    Re: Sunny !6 Users Unite!

I've studied Phil Davis' BTZS system and find it an excellent tool for learning about sensitometry, but in routine practice I don't think it's worth the fuss. When I'm using LF I sniff around with...

+1. The only place I've ever been where sunny 16 is enough is the desert southwest.
  5. Re: Does a new luxury 8x10 camera make sense in 2021?

I don't think so. We'll never know, but given his market positioning and pricing while he was active, my guess is that Dick's pricing would still be in the same ballpark as Keith Canham's, comparing...

    Re: Sunny !6 Users Unite!

Yeah, when I go out with a meterless 35mm camera and B&W negative film I usually just wing it - can't be bothered to fuss with a separate meter when I'm shooting on the fly. Occasionally with LF...

  10. Re: Black exterior painted Linhof Technika...

Dunno whether Bob is at liberty to say, but I wonder how many Technikas were being sold annually in the US by that point - hard to imagine that it was a huge number.

    Re: Digital Prints - Horrors

All things considered, it sounds like the best investment of your "printing time" just now would be to shop around for another lab that is able to be more responsive to your needs and preferences.

    Re: Digital Prints - Horrors

What Drew said. Before you draw conclusions about inkjet, try some glossy papers. They still won't look like a screen, but they might provide enough of the brilliance you're looking for.

  14. Re: Lens boards for Wista 45D - same as Technica?

A technicality: Wista has offered boards with centered holes in all sizes, not just #3. See, for example:

So one needs to be careful about the...

Re: Quitting Flickr Soon for imgbb

The Imgbb website says nothing about who's behind it.

A quick web search reveals... nothing.

So for now, all I know about them is that they are unwilling to reveal who they are.

  19. Re: I would like to learn how to do macrophotography with my 8X10.

    OK, so for completeness: the Apo-Macro-Sironars are 120 and 180, the Macro-Sironar-N's are 210 and 300. The Nikkor AM's are 120 and 210. And the Makro-Symmar HM's are 80, 120 and 180. The macros...

There are. Two examples that are specified for 8x10 are the 210 mm and 300 mm Macro-Sironar-N.

  24. Re: What is the fancy name for C-41 and RA4 processed prints.

Both C-41 and RA-4 are chromogenic processes. Museums and galleries often label the prints as "chromogenic prints".
