    Re: Sink-level ventilation

I initially installed almost the exact same system (we probably got the idea from the same person) and found it ineffective as well.

I removed it and built a sink-long (8ft) system with slots...

    Re: Anyone else printing smaller?

I have been printing for my family album of late and 90% of the images are 3.5x5 inches; the only exceptions are group photos (5x7), rarely 8x10.

There was a time when (perhaps still) the Fine...

    Re: bellows factor app

Generally speaking, most are no longer comfortable doing seemingly simple match calculations. How many elementary school students do you think have memorized the multiplication table?

    Re: New darkroom sink options

Same here. My current sink was made by him. His sinks are essentially custom-made: he will build to your specifications. Mine required that I be able to fit 20x24 trays even though I seldom print...

    Re: Carlwen negative carrier

If I am not mistaken, Carlwen negative carriers were made for specific enlargers. I have a 35mm carrier for my Durst L-1200. It saves some time when you print more than one image on the same strip....

    Re: water filters

I use two filters, one for hot and one for cold water, as suggested by Drew. Long ago, I was getting stains (rust?) on my negatives and the use of the filters solved the problem.

Re: Film on a Plane: Check It or Carry-On?

A few years ago I put film in one of those lead shields; the x-ray scanning technician couldn't see what was inside it: I had to remove it from my bag; the film was hand inspected.

    There is a...

Re: Kirk Tuck commenting on 4x5 video blog

His 'perspective' seems to be contempt (as r.e. has pointed out quite well) for anyone who doesn't do things his way.

There are a lot of videos on LF that make me cringe a bit, but so what? There...
  16. Re: Voigtlander Bergheil 9x12 Shift Control Not Moving

Same on mine; just plain stuck; probably dry lubrication - if I turn the knob really hard, the shift works. I brought it to the Camera Dr. in NYC. I couldn't see my way to take the mechanism apart.
  17. Re: Carbon Transfer Workshop, Oct. 20 - 23, 2021, Yosemite Valley

Too bad about the last-minute cancellation. I wanted to attend the workshop but car rentals have been a problem to secure. I hope to attend it in April.

    Re: Color of Ansco/PF 130

Good tip regarding the dilution. Some papers (I forget which one at the moment) developed very fast at 1:1; something like one minute - way too fast to control.

    Re: Color of Ansco/PF 130

Ansco 130 will 'work' (it will develop paper) with old, off-color Glycin but it will stain the paper; it is immediately apparent in the white borders of the print.

Over the past few years I've...
