  1. Re: Printing color slides on Harman Direct Positive paper

I think the best way is to enlarge on to 4x5 B&W Negative sheet film. Otherwise, yes, transparencies are very difficult to print and really only good for projection these days, since the demise of...
  2. Re: Do you consider the ground glass a lens' accessory? Problem and recommendation.

The FA's focus screen is a very fine fresnel, as fine as a screen on a 35mm camera. You can look at a reflection on the back of the screen to see the fine circular lines, otherwise the fresnel is...

    Re: Faulty Light Meter

Computer meters are pretty complicated, in fact they even list "Measured Value Does Not Look Correct" in the troubleshooting section. I have never seen that before in a Sekonic manual.

The bug or virus shows up on my browser also. Again, it asks if I want to leave the page and it is very slow.
  5. Re: Do you consider the ground glass a lens' accessory? Problem and recommendation.

Horseman FA originally came with a plastic ground glass/fresnel combination screen with the "Horseman" name in the lower right. Over that was a clear glass with framing marks. Did you buy your camera...

Re: Advice about nickel plating please

Any plating is very expensive these days. For example I'm restoring a Mercedes 560SL currently. I had about $2000 of plating done over the winter. For example these two pieces were $125 each to be...

  9. Re: Linhof Technika — are Infinity Stops only for use with the Rangefinder?

With ground glass focus, if you tilt the back (which I do all the time) the infinity stop is not in the right position. So, on my non-rangefinder Horseman FA (with no rangefinder but with infinity...

    Re: testing spot lightmeter

Adjust the ASA dial so that a film renders a photograph of a uniform target 0.1 density when underexposed 4 stops.
BTW 0.1 density is 1/3 of a stop. So you can use the meter to check the negative.
  13. Re: "If I wanted to be safe, I would have done Landscapes."

I think 1/3 of my film gets exposed with images of my dogs, rather than the children. Now that can get dangerous...:p

  14. Re: Borrow 90mm (or 72mm) Super-Angulon XL in the Boston, MA, USA area?

Just tilt the camera upward to frame the subject. Correct the converging verticals when printing. Almost all large format enlargers can do it.

  15. Re: Information on a Beseler 45 V with 8x10 conversion

  20. Re: Chamonix 8x10 camera : can they shoot 4x5 ??

With the 4x5 back you can use some long lenses and get some good close-ups. Be careful to get the front standard square to the back; that 8x10 camera won't have detents to center either the front or...
