That's right. Each full stop step halves (going up from 1.0 to 1.4, 1.4 to 2.0, ...) the amount of light the film receives given subject illumination and shutter speed.

I pointed you at one, you !@#$%.
Learn to do the calculations.
But since ..., On 4x5 a 90 mm lens covers 80 degrees. A 150 covers 53 degrees. The average is 66.5 degrees. A 114 mm lens, as was fitted to some relatively high...
Nor do I. Photography in general and LF in particular remind me of the hobbies my cohort had before we passed puberty. We collected things: coins, stamps, insects, ... We did things: ham radio,...
Sorry, you come across as lonely and bored.
Another reason to use the post instead of courier services. At least in the US. There's no fee for customs clearance of incoming parcels here.
Grow, not necessarily, but we need recruitment >= departures to stay alive.
Not only on imports. On everything taxable (what's taxable is state specific) purchased by residents.
I believe that countries in the EU treat all purchases -- from inside and outside the EU --...
Sorry, no, the Cambo doesn't fold up. And then there's the rail ...
Bernice, learn to read. The link you posted is headed
Learn to read. He explicitly mentions TTH and says too that Angenieux used the TTH's idea to develop many more lenses. And he says nothing about Wide Angle Rectilinears or early w/a anastigmats...
Another myth. TTH introduced this type of lens in 1931 for the 3 strip Technicolor process. Lenses occasionally surface on, e.g., ebay.com.
Remove the bellows, rotate the standards 90 degrees so the rail and they are coplanar and the camera will fit in a briefcase or suitcase.
You're not wrangling about the physics and I didn't blame the quote on you. I blamed Rodenstock's marketers.
I meant specific lenses. 35/4.5, 45/4.5, 53/4.5 and 75/4.5 Biogons for, respectively, 6x6, 6x7, 6x9 and 4x5.
Your R'stock quote is marketing fluff. I just looked at the "relative light fall of...
You're probably thinking of f/4.5 Biogons. One, the 75/4.5, covers 4x5. Big heavy expensive lens.
Yes and yes. The lens' back focus is ~ 85 mm. I mean, it is a telephoto lens.
Bernice, my 12"/4 TTH telephoto, ex-AGI F.139, doesn't quite agree with you. I've never tried it on 4x5, which the VM says it just covers. It seems to be the longest lens that works comfortably on...
Steven, re the quality of the information in Le Reve Edition's pamphlets, I bought their Berthiot pamphlet before starting serious work on my Berthiot LF anastigmats article. Their account of...
If you shot a 135 on 4x5 you absolutely positively shouldn't need a CF. The corners will be down 3/4 stop from the center, or the center up 3/4 stop from the corners.
Adam, if you are still using a Cambo SC -- I've completely lost track of what you have -- a bag bellows will cost less that the 115 of your dreams.
Still not guaranteed.
Any? Not guaranteed.
Jim, Ron, see post #22 above. The seller has changed its mind or lied from the start.
Bokum? Hokum.
Adam, you're still overthinking nearly everything.
For most of us, the first camera was the wrong camera. Using the first camera taught us what the replacement had to do.
For most of us,...
I think you're mistaken. There were two versions of the Hypergon. 140 degree lens with fan (mechanical center filter!) and a later 110 degree lens without fan. The use of the same trade name for...
complet means sold out. Remember, the publisher claims that the print run -- 100 -- was chosen to ensure that the pamphlets would be valuable collectors' pieces.
Fancy schmancy. Adam, you overthink everything. This site has resources that you can use to help yourself. To get to the FAQs, click of the LF Home Page button at the top of the screen.

Hmm. The Apo-Gerogon is an f/9 w/a process lens for small process cameras. Its recommended operating range is 1:5 to 1:1. The Componon-S Drew suggested is half a stop faster.
All this is perfectly normal for process lenses such as the Apo Skopar. Waterhouse stops with circular holes act as stops, as does the diaphragm. Those with square or diamond shaped holes shape...
I have a tandem Graphic. Rear camera is a 2x3 Pacemaker Speed Graphic, front camera is a Century Graphic, the coupler is a 2x3 film pack adapter with round tube attached to a 2x3 Pacemaker Graphic...
John, you'll need to mount the 5x7 back on a tapered extension.
I don't think you should bother. If you want a 5x7 Graflex ante up and buy one.
I make this suggestion because of a disastrous...
State and local sales and use taxes, you ignorant fool.
Jim, I'd like to agree with you, Acme-speak notwithstanding, but the shutter's indicated high speed is 1/200. Self-cocking Ilex shutters' top speed is 1/100.
We may be looking at a self-cocking...
OP, in Ilex parlance Acme means "cock and shoot" and Universal means "self-cocking."
Bob, for center filters see my article http://www.galerie-photo.com/center-filters-for-large-format-lenses.html, which recommends CFs from (in alphabetical order) Heliopan, Rodenstock and Schneider...
As you said, your question is silly. For your purposes, 75s from the big four (in alphabetical order, Fuji, Nikon, Rodenstock and Schneider) are functionally equivalent. Same goes for 90s. There...

Hmm. Are you thinking 2x3?
Doremus, Graphics have fixed backs.
