    Re: Shooting in burn areas

That's why I've avoided burns in the past.
Of course after the past two fire seasons it seems like there's more burns than forest!

    Shooting in burn areas

So I'm trying to get in shape after the stents, and accompanied my son (the tall kid) to a rock formation he enjoys climbing, I thought it was really cool being volcanic rock with all the whimsical...

    Re: Light weight 810 system

Leaving the tripod head at home will lose you some weight.
Probably my most used lens for hiking is a 240mm G Claron because of it's size, light weight and coverage.
  4. Re: First Forey Into 8x10 Format/ Intrepid 8x10 Camera

Which 4x5 lenses do you have? Not many, but some will cover 8x10 adequately with minimal wiggle room, when stopped down
  5. Re: Is the obsession with analogue gearing an obstacle to art?

Let me try to explain myself.

Analogue photography is slow, it is very slow (and expensive if not). I know to some extent that can be a good thing, as it forces one to slow down and think....

Re: Dark slide for Toyo 810 film holder

I've seen dents like that covered with gaffer's tape but I've never trusted them----I'd suspect the added thickness of tape might cause havoc with the velvet in the light trap.

    I don't know if...

    Pismo Beach on fire?

Yesterday there were reports about a catastrophic fire at Pismo Beach, the reportedly jumping HWY 1 between Pismo and Shell Beach.
    Today there is no news.
Any Pismo Beachers here have any...
  9. Re: Do I need a retaining ring on my Goerz Dagor 12 inch?

It looks like a flange is on the back of the lens board instead of the front.
If it suits your purpose and works----is light tight and the shutter controls don't bind----I don't see an issue.
    I...
  10. Re: Deardorff rounded lens board to square front standard?

IIRC the square boards interchange with Kodak 6x6ers. Those should be easier to find than 'dorff boards.

  16. Re: Seeking Ideas For Replacing Film Holder Labels?

Have you tried cleaning up the labels with an ink eraser?

FWIW, I number my holders and use a notebook to record the info.
Those narrow white labels don't allow that much info anyway.
  17. Re: Affordable 8x10: Any Other Game than Intrepid?

I don't know what they bring these days, but for less than a 'dorff there are plenty of good old cameras out there.
Ansel emphatically preferred the Agfa Ansco to the ' dorff.
    Weston wrote of his...
  18. Re: Affordable 8x10: Any Other Game than Intrepid?

Totally unsolicited here, but Richard has worked on one of my cameras---he did a fine job at a fair price. I couldn't ask for better!

    Re: Lens coating removal question

I was camped out somewhere above Soldier Meadow in the Sierra and my Commercial Ektar needed cleaning.

  32. Re: 8x10 film dev - what do you use as a process?

    Welcome!
Learning to shoot LF is less costly with a 4x5.
Used 4x5 enlargers aren't terribly expensive.
