  1. Re: Ebony Camera Bellows Support: Description or pictures requested

Thanks Monty, this is what I had pictured in my mind having seen the OP link with its photos of the bellows support as an “oh, by the way” and confirms the way that I thought that it was made. I...
  2. Re: Ebony Camera Bellows Support: Description or pictures requested

I would be interested in seeing a picture of the part.
  3. Re: Ebony Camera Bellows Support: Description or pictures requested

It looks to me as if the u shaped fixture is a hollow tube with the two “stands” that sit in the two metal receptacles or holes in the front standard rails about two thirds of the way back. The two...

F-stop timing has saved me lots of time over the years. I have an RH Designs Vario f-stop timer which can be used for split printing because it has two channels. I have been able to set up the basic...

    Re: 5x7 enlargers?

I have a Kodak model D which looks exactly like this. The numbers on the column and the lens are the same EE250 except for the K on the lens, making the year of manufacture 1944.
    I decided to change...

    Re: Shooting expired Tri-x 6years old ?

I think that it will be the luck of the draw. I had some old tri-x that was useless, but some even older fp-4 that was fine . . . Go figure. Test and see where you’re at.
  7. Re: Marks in 4x5 film edge after developing

Agitation periods should not be too gentle. Don’t splash developer all over your darkroom, but give it a go. Times between agitations should be very still.
  8. Re: My first Lens. Symmar-S 6,8 /360 in a Copal 3 shutter. What next?

If the ring on the back of the shutter is threaded on to the shutter, (are you ready?) and if your lens board has a hole in it the same size or just a little bit larger than the thread on the...
  9. Re: Copal 1 shutter problem: T mode behaves like B mode

I have often used the B in place of T with a cable release stop. If all else is working and the glass is excellent and the price is right, go for it with the understanding that you will need to spend...

    Re: pin hole checking

Enlargers don’t have their bellows “abused “ as much as cameras. I have a 5x7 enlarger that was made in 1944 with its original bellows and no pin holes, but does it really matter on an enlarger?

    Re: pin hole checking

Imho, if you really like the way that the camera works, do a temporary fix on the bellows while you are looking into the replacement, and use it. Replacing bellows is a maintenance issue unless you...
  12. Re: crappiest camera and lens what did you do with it?

Yard sale wood camera. Incomplete, not able to rebuild at that time. I still have a box of parts that I used over the years for repairs, etc.

  16. Re: Where to find information about the manufacturing date for a Zeiss Tessar?

Thanks for the confirmations. I found a less reliable source for confirmation that the shutter serial number was from about the same time as the lens cells. All good, thanks again!

    Thanks Dan
  18. Re: Where to find information about the manufacturing date for a Zeiss Tessar?

    Thanks Louis,
I will look for the serial number tonight.
  19. Where to find information about the manufacturing date for a Zeiss Tessar?

    Hi folks,
I have an old Zeiss Tessar 150 mm f4.5 lens in a Deckel Compur shutter and I can’t seem to determine the age.
It is not coated and is in excellent condition. I have looked in the Arne...

  28. Re: How have you shopped for lenses over the years?

After reading Kerry Thalman’s website maybe 10 or so years ago, I was on the lookout for a 150 f9 Kowa for my 5x7. I put in a bid on eBay for a set of two lenses for $79.00. I won the auction and...

I also needed to rebuild the rear stabilization system (pandemic project). It was necessary to add an additional bed lock on the right side. The knurling was lucky an the knob looks original.
