  4. Re: Voigtländer Euryscop No. 6 Series IV Real World Coverage ?

Yes in the style of Sturges. Like when you use a 240mm-250mm lens with 8x10 portraits. You have to understand a 24" lens is considered normal lens for 16x20 format, just like a 12" in the case of...
  5. Re: Voigtländer Euryscop No. 6 Series IV Real World Coverage ?

To give you an example: would you use a 250mm lens for 8x10 head/shoulder shots? Do they look good? Yes you can use a 250mm for 8x10 portrait, but only at a distance, maybe 15-20 feet away. Many...
  6. Re: Voigtländer Euryscop No. 6 Series IV Real World Coverage ?

It covers both 14x17 and 16x20 for head/shoulder shots, but the pictures don't look pleasing because the lens is too short for these formats.
  7. Re: Goerz Doppel Anastigmat Serie III No 7 360mm f6 COVERAGE or lens catalogue

People don't care much about corners when doing portraits which are usually done at close distance with extended bellows. In another world, a lens that covers 11x14 at infinity will probably cover...
  8. Re: Voigtländer Euryscop No. 6 Series IV Real World Coverage ?

I looked at reflected upside down head/shoulder images on my 16x20 ground glass and didn't make the exposure. It covers and I think you can even use 14x17 if not for head/shoulders.

Different max f stops, different looks and different focal lengths.
  11. Re: Goerz Doppel Anastigmat Serie III No 7 360mm f6 COVERAGE or lens catalogue

I know Protar V 7a 39cm has an image circle of 33 1/2 inch and will cover 20x24 at its smallest stop. The E. Klauss version I have does cover, at least.
  12. Re: New Book: Eleventyone Portraits 1841 to 1950

I received my copy of the book two days ago. It is a beautiful book with plenty labor of love. It reminds me of Ansel Adams book Examples.

Having read through three pictures so far and I have the...

Re: 4x5 lenses: telephoto and portraiture

Just a note: I set up my 45H1 camera a few minutes ago and put on a 300mm f/9 lens. I was able to focus at something about 5 feet away from the lens with the bellows fully extended. So that is how...

Re: 4x5 lenses: telephoto and portraiture

    Alan,

You have two wide angle lenses and one normal lens of 150mm. So your real question is how to choose a longer lens that is suitable for portraits. It does not have to be a telephoto design....

  16. Re: Are there alternatives for Schneider Super Angulon XL 210mm to cover 11x14"?

    Protar V 212mm f/18 and Zeiss Dagor 21cm F/9 lenses both cover at f/32.

Re: New Ultra-Light Chamonix 810 Camera

    Rayt,

Ebony is a wrong camera for heavy lenses. I have tried and it was designed that way. I use a lens support with Chamonix camera for my lenses up to 20 lbs. Have to use a second tripod if the...

    Re: Wide Angle RR

While they are not RR lenses, Dallmeyer and Meyer made some wide angle lenses in 1930s with F/6.3 viewing stop. 100-105% coverage. Very sharp. With patience, should find them under $200.

Superb lens for 4x5 head and shoulder shots if your 4x5 camera has a big and sturdy front standard. Covers 8x10 with no movement.

There are flights, but slower than usual. No EMS, FedEx takes about two weeks to reach your door. We ship 1-3 times a week now due to reduced flights. Used to be everyday.
