    Re: Gold Toning

That’s a great paper, and as others have said, you can vary the toning with selenium with different dilutions. I use dilute selenium (1:9) for archival purposes, and a little more dmax, and use that...

Very much. Nice work. The elements capture my mixed feelings. The allegories are very clear.

More movements, flexible systems. You can add bellows to your heart’s delight. No one camera does everything. You said you were doing portraits and wanted to do still life. Now you want a camera...

Re: Need Help Choosing a Chamonix 4x5

I think what xkaes meant was, why not use a monorail camera for studio work? That’s what they’re designed for, and can be had relatively inexpensively. Field cameras, such as the excellent Chamonix...

Nice one Bryan. You may be thinking of Whooping Cranes, of which there are so few. Sandhill Cranes are currently “of least concern” from a conservation standpoint. They are wonderful birds.

    Re: 4x5 B&W development - no processor

I use the Jobo tank for hand inversion exclusively. Yes, it’s a lot of chemistry, but I use Pyrocat HD, so it’s very economical.

    Re: FP4+ in Pyrocat HD

I rate FP4 at 100, and my N development is 11 minutes at 70F, in the 1:1:100 dilution, with agitation for one minute initially, and 10 seconds every minute afterwards, in trays. With roll films, I...

Re: Backpack for 4x5 or 617

  38. Re: How many film holders do you bring for a day out?

For 4x5, I think you should buy 12 holders. Taking 6 out for a few hours should be sufficient, and you would have the other 6 loaded for another shoot. I still take two exposures of each shot, both...
