I use, sometimes, ye olde grey Gossen LunaSix (same as LunaPro in Canada, long time ago). The spot attachment works great, but I don't have Zone System sticker as in my Pentax spotmeter.

The speed tester is a very good tool, but it was way easier to use with older iPhones, when there was a dedicated connection for sound. Now, with modern iPhones, only one connection possible, you...
Like many, I moved away from Kodak chemicals in my darkroom. But I stayed with Kodak films, TMY, and to a lesser extent TXP. I did regret xtol and hc110 and might be tempted to use these film...
In similar circumstances, I threw out all my chemicals after reopening/refurbishing the darkroom, albeit some seem OK. Starting everything anew. But i did keep all the old TRi-X, expired 10 and more...
After mixing XTOL (or its equivalent), I pour it in stoploss bags, 1L per bag. It is easy to squeeze out air from them.
And welcome from yet another Montrealer.
Same for me, it is good for years after color darkening. No significant change in my developing time either.
Sorry, but ND400->8 and 2/3s stop.
I have used some metal strapping used to hold hot air ducts for home furnaces to hold the long bulb. Found it at a home hardware store. I cut it to length, including folds to get to the empty slots...
I am very interested as well. Will certainly buy a copy.
I ask because up here, in the country side, temperature goes down often. And snow is everywhere around here also.
Thanks for such a detailed exam of this interesting camera.
How does it do in cold weather, say around 0F ?
Ari,
Look into Adobe FrameMaker, it is very, very powerful. I use it on MacOS via VMWare Fusion, since FrameMaker is now supported only on (help...) Windows.
Not to mention that B&H is a convenient store for Canadian buyers. An important source of materials gone...Let us hope that they will revise this extreme policy.
I always pre-soak, but have only used Kodak BW film in 35mm, 120 and 4x5 formats, together with Kodak developpers in the last 30-40 years.
Before getting the Thomas Safelight, I had ye olde Kodak safelight with an Amber (OC?) filter, it was OK. I did consider at one point replacing it by Amber leds.
Perhaps amber leds are a better choice, for black and white work.
I use Thomas Duplex in 8x10 darkroom. I put it high enough so that it's large mass up there is not a bother.
I will keep this in mind, thank you.
It seems overkill already, but I am also waiting for such a reel from Latvia; it will arrive in a week or so. Might have to do same as you.
What about beeswax ? It should help quite a bit.
Here...
I have made my darkroom sink out of plywood, and coated it with west epoxy almost 30 years ago. It is still very good, does not leak. However, indicator stop bath discoloured the epoxy when in...
A school must have a better budget for replacing equipment than mine!
Lots of good information here! Thanks!
Thank you, I was unaware that these could be purchased separately. I will enquire.
I have used different cameras over the years. This has resulted in a growing collection
of enlarging lenses, such as 50mm, 80mm, 105mm and 150mm.
Most of these are just sitting in plastic bags,...
I use Tri-X 35mm, 120 and 4x5, for everything.
I have a very conventional Beseler 4x5MX, with cold light head.
I use a Ohaus triple beam, good to +-0,1 gram up to, can weight 1Kg. Very reliable, but do not be in a hurry, especially when you need to offset the weight of a container.
There is an article on apug that discusses this subject, [URL="http://www.apug.org/forums/forum216/34433-spot-meter-measurment-transmission-densities-r-eugene-smith.html"]
I use a 150mm Nikon lens because that was the lens that came with the 4x5 camera that I bought some time ago. Before getting a 135mm, so close to the 150, I will prefer to get a 210mm and then...
This is of interest to me also, as I do not have any other set of tongs. I've had those same 3 Kostiners, labeled 1, 2 and 3, nicely inserted and ordered in their plastic holder that is screwed into...
This forum was missed a lot.
Getting in 4x5 for relatively little money is not so difficult. However, the cost of operating the 4x5 system will very quickly surpass the 300 to 400 USD, at more than 80$ for 50 sheets of BW film,...
I use a JOBO 2521, but never got around putting more than 4 sheets in the 2509 spiral.
Hand inversion went well, as I was used to JOBO 1520 for 120 film. But with the necessary 1.5 L of HC-110 dil...
Developing by inspection, with the help of a faint green light...never dared to try this technique, but I recall it being praised a long time ago.
Welcome aboard...
I also have the "no volume control" unit with buzzer on/off. Bought it new I'm 1968...Still works like a charm, but I prefer models like 505, 605, etc. because of the pedal control, and possibility...
Pliobond is a contact cement glue. I used it to glue a loose leatherette on a Hasselblad body, with great success. Went photographing with it in -20C, windy winter mornings in northern countries not...
