  1. Re: Rodenstock Grandagon 115 vs Schneider Super Symmar 110 XL

I've had experience with both and my impression is this, both lenses will be sharper than the film you put behind them, the Grandagon tested a bit sharper at longer focus distances and had a larger...

    Re: Fujinon 300mm f4.5

Quite the opposite, these were older brass cell Tessar designs that were very common as a workhorse lens in Japan. They were sold either in barrel as shown and could be front mounted to a Shanel 5A...
  3. Re: Bellows Material - might have found the answer

I've used this fabric for bellows before, it really does need two layers to fully block light but it's also very thin, I used a 4 layer laminate that was nylon, black paper for ribs, nylon and thin...

Re: Nikkor W 150mm/135mm Rear Cell Matching

The 150mm rear cell is 2mm longer than the 135mm cell, take both cells out of the shutters and set them on a flat surface and see which is taller.

Re: On The Hunt For Bellows Materials

I've used this material, it works well but one layer doesn't fully block strong light so two layers are needed, however it's very thin and two layers are really needed anyway for strength.
  6. Re: Are there planar-type lenses longer than 135mm for large format?

My lenses are currently stored, since I'm in the process of moving, but the lens is a LOMO OKP2-180-1, there are some photos online of them, I had also considered using a Compur Electronic 5FS if I...
  7. Re: Are there planar-type lenses longer than 135mm for large format?

My plan is to use Compound #5 shutters. The second group is 80mm diameter so it will just fit.
  8. Re: Are there planar-type lenses longer than 135mm for large format?

The front element on this lens is 92mm, so rather enormous for a 180mm, my Sonnar 180mm is both smaller and lighter, the rear element is 80mm with a 104mm cell diameter so mounting in front of a...
  9. Re: Are there planar-type lenses longer than 135mm for large format?

Lomo made a 180mm 2.8 6/4 planar type projection lens, I'm not sure what format it was meant for, but it covers something like 210mm. It's absolutely enormous and with the way it's manufactured...
  10. Re: Prontor PRO 01S Shutter - Cable Release / Double Cable Release

FYI in case you don't know, the Prontor shutters can be operated by a single release if you want to, that's how I use mine, the red cable port fires the shutter and the white port is used only for...

Re: How to Tighten Fine Focus on Toyo 810G?

I just reread through the thread and now I'm not sure if I answered the correct question, is the fine focus loose or is it the focus locking knob?

If it's just the focus locking knob then remove...

Re: How to Tighten Fine Focus on Toyo 810G?

There are three small set screws on the opposite site of the standard from the focus knob that hold pressure against the dovetail gib, that must be tightened.

First you will need a quality 1.5mm...
  13. Re: Moderate wide + shallow DOF lens recommendations?

I think a 180mm Heliar would give you the closest look to the Pentax 105mm with only a third stop difference in DOF. You can get them either in barrel and use the Sinar Copal shutter or in a Compound...

Re: 150mm f/5.6 Rodenstock Sironar spacing info?

The raised ring you mention on the copal shutter sounds like a plastic trim ring, it pops out and your lens should fit fine in the newer shutter.

I have to agree with Drew, there are several features that look different than any Nagaoka that I've seen before, I think this is a knockoff. Also I don't believe there ever was an 8x10 woody.

The Komura telephoto lenses have flange distances of 221mm for the 400mm f8 lens and 258mm for the 500mm f7, the 400mm has a 190mm image circle and the 500mm 210mm.
