    Re: Offset aperture opening

I think you are mistaking 'aperture' and 'vignetting.' The lens mount in the diagram posted will produce vignetting not a mathematical change in aperture.
  2. Re: Help finding the right 8x10 camera/lens for a silly project...

Just about any modern 8x10 lens, camera and shutter will have nearly identical specs. How will you manage the film holders? You probably need a large changing bag.

You will need a lot of light to...
  3. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

The reason I thought of a little prism is that once I was asked to fix a Kiev metered prism. The owner thought it was 'dead.' In fact it used a tiny prism to reflect the LEDs so they could be seen...
  4. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

Maybe a little prism to see the numbers.

  5. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

Ok you have the L184. I thought you had L1840, because the Laratub is for L1840. The L184 has the Latub 2500.

So, in that case the L184 manual shows the 100mm lens does need a recessed board....

I'd be curious to see a picture of the "G" Componon. I have never seen one in person.

Re: Why no 'Like' button on threads

I asked the same question on PhotoTrio a few years ago and got flamed. Maybe a "Dislike" button would have been better suited to that forum....

  8. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

I thought maybe you intended to type "S" as I thought the shortest "G" was a 150mm.

So, indeed you have a very rare lens!

The manual for L1840 indicates a 100 will mount on a 50mm Lapla flat...
  9. Re: Durst L1840 Enlarger 8x10 10x10--Everything you wanted to know...

I'd get a different lens. There must be a million 100mm lenses out there but very few Laratubs. I'd not damage the Laratub.

Unless you are making 40" images from 6x9cm negatives, why not use a...
  10. Re: DIY wide angle 4X5 camera I made at work (aircraft maintenance facility)

I find it very difficult to hand-hold 4x5 without a flash. I have cameras, what I'd make is a gyro for the base.

    Re: Over exposed Tmax 100

When one prints a severely overexposed negative (one in which image forming information is up over the shoulder) the effect is somewhat odd. The middle tones are lighter than expected. Or, if you...

Re: Anyone Use Shanghai GP3 Film in 4x5 and 8x10

My last batch of 8x10 had notches on both corners. Good news was that the film exposed fine through either side and, with a Jobo Expert drum, the film loaded emulsion side out, still processed OK for...

    Re: Darkroom vs Scanning

Scanning make no sense now that you can get a digital camera which does not require film and go straight from camera to computer with a cable or blue tooth.

In that case, the negatives are made...

Re: Chamonix 45N-2 and offset lens boards

The Starrett catalog. I got a Starrett catalog at a used book sale in 1973. I was fascinated with all that stuff; I wanted to be a designer in Jr High.

Re: New lens to me :)

210mm is a nice focal length for 4x5, I currently have a 210mm on my camera now.

I think you can use up to a 450mm lens with that camera, so that convertible lens should work just as well as the...
