Re: Bausch & Lomb 159mm F2 Super Cinephor

I made a board out of hardwood plywood, drilled a hole and epoxied the lens in. I also shaved about 1/2" off the back of the barrel to get it to clear the shutter.

Re: Bausch & Lomb 159mm F2 Super Cinephor

I've shot a lot with a Cinaphor on 4x5 and although the depth of field is extremely shallow and it's a bit wide for portraits, I do like the image it makes. I mounted mine to a Sinar board and use a...

    Re: December portrait thread

I came across a striking portrait of Angela on instagram and reached out to her via a mutual fried to see if I could make a portrait with her while I was in LA this month. She's going through chemo...
  5. Re: Does the gitzo GH2720QR head would be suitable for 4x5 camera

I've never used that head, I'm sure it would hold your camera but if it were me I'd go for something a bit beefier. You don't really need a fluid head for 4x5 landscape work.
    Just my two cents.

    Re: Light Meter for collodion

I use a meter with collodion and strobe. Mine goes down to iso 3 but if I get a reading of f/11 I'll have enough light to shoot at around f/5.6 with some wiggle room for under/over developing in the...

Well it seems to hold the big bastard. Still have a couple of things to finish but it's definitely a huge improvement over my old head.

Re: spring steel for camera back?

I've used carbon fiber strips for my 8x10 back. I used 1/2mm and layered it up like an old truck spring, epoxied the strips together. Works great, easy to work with and doesn't rust.

    Re: Tripod Head DIY

Have a few more bits to machine but the head is more or less together. It seems like it should provide a very stable base for the camera but we'll see how it holds up once I mount the big bastard....

That Linhof design does look pretty amazing, particularly the leveling function. Might have to try something like that as well. Thanks fellas.

Jim would you happen to have any links to that type of head? I think I know what you're talking about, hinge at the front with a shaft running vertically between two plates that gets clamped?

Re: Source for custom-made ground glass?

  24. Re: My Journey To 16x20 TinTypes: Step 2 - Plate Holders

  37. Lens Question - Rapid Rectilinear 18x22 Series A No. 10
