Re: Good light lens for 8x10

    The Fujinon A 300mm weighs 410g.

The G-Clarons mentioned are also great for a lower price.

Re: Good light lens for 8x10

If those are your parameters and budget isn't, I'd recommend a Fujinon A 300mm f/9.

    Super well-corrected, 420mm image circle.

The more rare Fujinon A 360mm f/10 will give you a 500mm image...

    Re: Going Long on 5x7

There are the Schendier 360mm f/5.5 Tele-Xenar & Tele-Artar. Both heavy. The Artar is better, but also heavier.

Nikkor's 360/8, 500/11, 720/16 trio is really really good and has the advantage of...

Re: Home Made 14x17 Developing Tanks

I built my own tank for 11x14.
I had to make my own holders for the negatives in order to make it work.

I used 1/4" acyrlic like what's used for larger fish tanks. I chose a size to do two at a...

    Re: Fastest 11x14 barrel lens

If you're looking for the speed for doing portraits, you also probably don't need perfect coverage at infinity.

I just barely qualify for that. This was four years of trial and error that any sane person would have given up on six months in.

If its a Symmar-S MC, it doesn't cover 11x14, you get completely black corners at infinity with that lens.

    Yes.

When it comes to learning ultra-large format, having cheap practice film is necessarily part of the best case scenario!
  25. Re: Use of X-ray film: technical discussion with example images

The best way to use the double sided stuff, in my experience, is in a vertical tank to avoid scratches. I built one out of acrylic for 11x14.

  31. Re: Shooting Ilford Delta and developed as iso 400

You could use a compensating developer like Diafine. Typically you increase the EI by ~2 stop with that.
  32. Re: Adapting an Intrepid enlarger kit to an Omega D2?

It attaches with graflok clips, so if you can source (or already have) a graflok back, you could probably figure out how to attach it before you buy.
