  1. Re: storage solution for custom flextight holders?

Thanks - that is an obvious solution that i had not thought of.
  2. storage solution for custom flextight holders?

just curious if anyone knows how to buy the imacon holder storage case or has come up with any sort of clever solution for storing/protecting these custom made holders from China. I guess most...

Thanks, it's actually just a plywood cover with a decorative screen made by the landlords father to hide the cheap looking gas heater. But cool that it can make you remember Brooklyn.

  9. Re: The Camera and Technique of Andreas Gursky (Then And Now)

Well you didn't choose interchrome for your name. Sounds like maybe you got a dog in this fight, I don't really.

I know what I've seen and was just trying to answer the man from the internet's...
  10. Re: The Camera and Technique of Andreas Gursky (Then And Now)

Huh, my experience would lead me to disagree with that wholeheartedly. I'm not basing anything on heavy duty maths from kodak from the 1950s or the evolution of motion picture film, although I agree...
  11. Re: The Camera and Technique of Andreas Gursky (Then And Now)

A properly exposed chrome will beat the same speed color negative in terms of less grain and more sharpness. I use color negative because it's lower contrast, way more dynamic range, way more...

    Re: Epson V750 and V850

I have found the exact opposite to be true. I get way more newton rings placing film emulsion side down, then emulsion side up.

when you scan the film directly on the glass, I'm sure I read somewhere that focus plane is around 1/16th of an inch thick. Do some searches on here, lots of commentary about this in the past. You...

    Re: Epson V750 and V850

I'm not an expert on the hardware of these scanners but have scanned a fair amount of both 5x7 and 8x10 on my V750. The limiting factor on these scanners is the preciseness of the focus plane. I've...

  20. Re: Looking for Lab for Lambda Print, 60"

you mentioned color in your initial post so I thought maybe you were doing color, where inkjet would likely last longer than type C.

But a properly processed (and don't take that for granted...

Do you mean 60" on the long dimension or the short? Color Type C prints or black and white fiber?

I believe 50 inches is the standard size (length) of the rolls of paper and that most lab's...

  23. Re: How do you convert a color negative after you scan it?

I guess it's a question of semantics. Yeah I'm voting for letting the software do the conversion. Whether it's epson scan, or any other software. I've never used Vue scan.

    Peace I'm out
  24. Re: How do you convert a color negative after you scan it?

If these 2 things are true, I think you are scanning the negative as a positive.

But indeed whatever works for you....

I guess my point which you and many others obviously do differently is...
  25. Re: How do you convert a color negative after you scan it?

Well I can't convert you, and would gain nothing by trying. But here goes.

I use epson scan for my V700 quite happily, i think it can be super straightforward and allow for full manual control.
