    Re: Ilford Film Airports

I order film from B&H or Freestyle, and it's sent USPS Priority, and I've never had problems with it being damaged from x-ray.

    Re: Epson P700 printer, impressed

I went to this show. The prints looked good, but it was a little bit disappointing not to see the original dye transfer ones I'd always heard so much about. But that's only because I'm a photo nerd...

  4. Re: Processing 510 Pyro & 100TMX with Jobo CPP-2

Oh c'mon... I've made good alt prints (Chrysotype, Platinum, etc...) from HP5, and had plenty of density and contrast for it. And I know I'm not the only one.
  5. Re: How To Create Dense & Contrasty Film Negs For Alt Prints?

I had good results with developing green sensitive X-ray film in Rodinal 1:50 dilution at around 5 minutes development at 20C. Metered at ISO100. Printed good with cyanotype and with gum pigment....

Re: Lightzone Inquiry - Problems Loading

You can give RawTherapee a try, depending on what you want to do. If it's "development" of alot of raw files, then that's a good choice. If you're looking for more deep editing, then Affinity is...

    Re: Epson P700 printer, impressed

Congrats on the new printer! My 2 cents of advice from having used various Epsons is that if it's going to sit idle for a week or more, you should print out one of the nozzle check test pages once a...

Same here. It's solid and beats the pants off the awful old Yankee tank I had used previously. My 810 tray is arriving this week and I'm looking forward to it!

    Re: Goerz red dot lens

I have this exact lens. It's a good match to an 8x10 or larger camera, but also good with 5x7. The long focal length means you'll need at camera with a long bellows to do any portrait or close shots....

    Re: Stearman developing Issue

What kind of agitation did you use? I'm thinking it might be something to do with the viscosity of the developer and/or how it reacts to the film. Could be other factors from whatever else is in the...
  14. Re: Processing 510 Pyro & 100TMX with Jobo CPP-2

I successfully processed 8x10 in a Jobo style tank with PMK, but this was with a hand roller, and I would pick it up and slosh it back and forth vigorously several times a minute to keep from getting...

Re: What's going on with Shen Hao?

And actually, Shen Hao is based in Shanghai...thought so. Yes, this is probably because of Shanghai opening back up for business.

Re: What's going on with Shen Hao?

It might be a result of Shanghai opening back up. Probably most people there weren't able to do any overseas business at all during lockdown, and when I visited the huge camera market there a few...
  17. Re: Ilford Photo 2022 Film Photographers Survey

When asked what "new technology" I'd be interested in, I said ready-made carbon tissues in CMYK process colors and a variety of monochrome tones.
  18. Re: Ilford Photo 2022 Film Photographers Survey

When asked what my favorite films are, I listed two films on each line and said I don't have any overall favorite, just ones I like and I choose which of the ones I like that is most appropriate for...

I wonder if one of those lead-lined film bags will help? I used one while traveling in China - they x-ray your bags before getting on nearly any public transport in the cities. Maybe going thru once...
  22. Re: Bergger pancro 400 in bergspeed: Unseen base fog

I got my box of 5x7 from B&H almost exactly a year ago, and they short-dated me, expired in November 2021. It must have been sitting there a long time.

  24. Re: Bergger pancro 400 in bergspeed: Unseen base fog

Re: Anyone else here on Instagram?

  27. Re: Bergger pancro 400 in bergspeed: Unseen base fog

I almost threw up the first time I developed a roll of 120 with Rodinal. Couldn't believe how ridiculous the grain was. Only thing worse that I've seen (so far) is the Foma Retropan 320
  28. Re: Bergger pancro 400 in bergspeed: Unseen base fog

That looks great, Paul. Shots like that are what got me interested in Pancro 400 in the first place, and my initial failures were a big disappointment (120 format with Rodinal...OH DEAR!!! LOL). I've...
  29. Re: Bergger pancro 400 in bergspeed: Unseen base fog

I went back and looked at my Pancro 400 negatives and see that it has a consistently dense base as Paul mentioned, and this is regardless of how much I exposed it and what developer I used.
    Though I...
  30. Re: How to mount a Goerz Artar 10 3/4 inch in a shutter?

I use barrel lenses like this with a Packard shutter. I mounted the shutter on a lens board, then made various smaller sub-boards to mount the lenses on that fit on the main board. It makes a fast...

  33. Re: 4x5 Portrait lens recommendation with "classic" look and feel

  34. Re: 4x5 Portrait lens recommendation with "classic" look and feel
