  1. Re: Portrait & General purpose lens for 4x5? (Goerz vs Kodak)

f/6.3 will be easier to focus, and 305mm will be easier to use in tight spaces.
  2. Re: what bright! LED bulbs are you using inside a softbox?

if you add a timer you can have it shut it off to defrost in the middle of the night.

industar-51, or an 8" or 8.5" buhl projector lens. you'll have plenty of cash left over for the separate shutter you'll need.

Re: Please help identify 8x10 light leaks

either way, a light sanding and a fresh coat of flat black paint with a little extra in the cracks couldn't hurt.
  10. Re: Is this because of light leaking? Or overdevelopment?

take a photo with the film loaded notched side first and tray develop it. if there's no light band, it was a development issue. if the light band is still at the same end of the fim holder, it's an...

  13. Re: Test exposure steps in half stop increments.

too much math for me. i'd just keep all the settings the same and vary the number of exposures per step, 1/1/2/4/8, with a half stop nd filter covering half the image.

    Re: Depth-of-focus problem, enlarging lenses

frosted plastic won't diffuse the light as evenly as milky white plastic, so i'd be more worried about a hotspot than seeing texture.
  15. Re: What’s your most “unpopular” opinion about LF?

that analogy makes no sense. a photo is equivalent to a song, not a note. if you're tuning your fiddle or adjusting your lights, it makes perfect sense to check the results before playing a song or...

  22. Re: Wet Plate Ultra Detail compared with todays films, WHY THIS HAPPENS ?

wet plate grain structure is outside my area of expertise.
  23. Re: Wet Plate Ultra Detail compared with todays films, WHY THIS HAPPENS ?

the narrower the spectrum the less chromatic aberration you get. uv has higher potential resolution than longer wavelengths. wet plate has extremely fine grain and high contrast.
