I don't think so. I believe that bellows extension is directly a function of the distance between the lens plane and the film plane.

Huh. I wouldn't have thought of that. By any chance do you have experience with these? What is the principle behind needing less bellows extension than normal lens for similar magnification? I assume...
Thanx. Performance issues weren't something I was trying to solve for unfortunately. The problem I was trying to solve for is that I primarily shoot portraits indoor using natural light. In order to...
Just wanting to confirm here that I understand how these lenses work. In general, will using a LF macro lens require less bellows extension than a normal lens given any magnification ratio?
thanx...
Yup. I have other equipment that I use periodically that I keep around. However, I really think this is a great and valuable lens that I should not leave to sit on the shelf. But, before I sold and...
I have about 34" and yes, my math and practice force me to the same conclusion regarding cumbersome not to mention the BE factor and reciprocity calculations...
I hear ya...
I'm not sure if that was a pun or if you meant that literally but, widening my horizons isn't an option. My camera, head, tripod weigh a TON and taking it out isn't really an option. Not to mention,...
You'd be surprised how little I know.
Am considering the Nikkor-AM ED 210mm F5.6 to replace it.
I bought this lens based on its reputation and was not disappointed on the quality of the images and the performance of my particular example's shutter.
However, I don't think I should keep it...
So, the original comment about the lens cap makes more sense with additional context. It's possible that if you are shooting, say, still life indoors with bellows extended long relative to the lens...
Curious, why do you want to shoot ULF?
I use two: 450mm and 150mm. The latter for close-up work.
Why would you enlarge to 1x? Seems stupid. Why not contract print????
Also, when you guys are all talking about better, best, etc. What are you talking about?????
I'll assume you are not kidding about this. So, rather than build a tent using plastic, why not just buy a real tent and wrap it in the opaque plastic? Don't worry about killing yourself by inhaling...
Why couldn't one use a 135mm for 5x7 enlarging?
I use spot meter and expose to zone vi.
I would say your total market, defined by you, is about nine people.
The ability for you to sell them is 0%.
I don't think there's much variability in enlargers. There's not much to it. I would recommend getting one you an grow into that has accessories readily available and that is in excellent condition....
Nice pic. Seriously.
Maybe someone will make a documentary about you!
;^)
Click on the link in the original thread and watch the trailer. I had never heard of him either but, it looks interesting. Imagine a movie set and director engaged just for an 8x10 shot.
I didn't see this first time around. It's a shame that nothing I look at today gives me a sense of awe or makes me say "how did they do that?" (remember when you first saw Star Wars??) I just assume...
YouTube is your friend!
Ilford makes 30cm x 30cm filters you can use for contact printing.
Forget film testing to start. Just use the recommended ISO.
I've found LF is easy to learn,...
Well whadda ya know. My fixer was exhausted.
Also, FWIW, Bergger data sheet, "...highly recommends to presoak in water at least for one minute."
Also, "Bergger Pancro 400 needs a longer than...
Wow. Cool.
Good job Michael.
I will do that for sure today.
I'm not sure it matters which developer or equipment is bein used but, FWIW, I'm using HC110-B with Unicolor drum and base (bi-directional).
When this problem arose, I actually developed four...
Here's a pix. It's subtle in this image of the negative but really more pronounced. You can see it spreading from left to wright towards the bottom of the teapot. It's even harder to see in this jpg...
So, by any chance has anyone had a recent issue with Bergger 400 8x10? Specifically, I just developed two sheets and they exhibit the exact same issue: a brown stain (and uneven development like...
It definitely looks like something.
So, I don't understand what the source of the heat was.
Calumet 8x10, sitting on Monfrotto 400 and then on a Majestic/Zone VI combo.

Could you put into words what you like about this image?
FWIW, instead of an app, I created a handy table I can keep in my bag or pocket.167818
Ok. Thanx for the helpful suggestions.
Again, the issue is that the image on the GG doesn't get sharp or appear in focus. At least not to the degree that I would expect.
At 50 years old, my...
So can i. Still having a problem. Thanks for insightful comment though.
He did. I finally rolled up my sleeves and got a calculator and worked through some equations.
In fact, I was able to put them into practice. I had a group shoot yesterday. Based on my new found...
So, back to shooting 8x10 after a break. I don't remember it being so hard to focus on the GG. I've used two different types today and I just can't see anything really sharp on the GG.
I don't...
Honestly, this is everything I needed. Thanx. Very well written and organized.
Who could have written such great material????
