    Re: ULF histórica

Very neat. Sounds like they had format wars back then, too!
  2. Re: Korona 11x14 back is wiggly. Has anybody repaired this and how did you do it?

    ...especially the latter!
  3. Re: Film holder question for F&S 12x20

    What Karl said...

Several years ago I modified my F&S 12x20 to accept modern holders (mine are S&S). I cut a groove in the back using a router to accommodate the rib lock on the holder.

    That...

A pre-wet cycle may help. Just plain water to help prepare the emulsion to receive the developer.

Re: How to get into ULF?

For some it can be the path to nirvana. For others, it's an ever-deepening rabbit hole.
  6. Re: Help choosing a "soft focus" lens, please.

I've been very fond of the Verito since I first learned about it about 20 years ago..It is versatile because it is a convertible lens. Remove the front group and you have a soft focus lens about 1.5x...
  7. Re: Which State is the Best State for Landscape Photographers to Live?

I'm fond of my own story about a time back in about 1984 when I walked out the door of my apartment and was struck by the arrangement of trash cans next to the driveway. I went back in, grabbed the...
  8. Re: Which State is the Best State for Landscape Photographers to Live?

    State of Financial Readiness.

But seriously, as I read over all the responses, I was reminded of the fact that since retiring in 2014, I have taken jobs three times that have caused me to move...

    What Merg said!
A big round of thanks to everyone: founders, moderators and the many members without whom, of course, there would be no forum.

Re: Restoring my "new" Agfa Ansco 8x10.

Refinishing the camera with the knobs in place should be OK since the metal knobs should be resistant to the finish applied.
    But another thought.
Are the cross-axles (focusing shafts) affixed to...
  11. Re: Trying to Source Gear Rack for 8x10 Kodak 2D

    Ari,

If I understand you correctly, the root problem you are trying to solve is that you do not have enough extension. Is that correct?

I know that sounds dumb to ask. But between reading two...
  12. Re: Route 66 in the 1950's (also an obituary)

WTH is that?? Sounds like regular old perspective to me...

    Re: Interesting you tube travelogues

I quite enjoy this guy's walks/rambles. A bit tedious at times, but the scenery is usually stunning and he's quite informative.

Thanks for sharing your insights Jim.

Mine is an Agfa 8x10, an earlier one that uses the 7 1/2" lens boards. Amazingly, it still has a beautiful finish. These cameras, like the 2D, are workhorses...

  18. Re: Photo travel by vehicle, what's your favorite?

I have a soft spot in my heart for VW Type II. Had several. Even a Eurovan Camper conversion (with kitchenette). It was great until the transmission started acting up. It was a CPO and VW didn't want...

    Re: Glue For Bellows

Pliobond is what I've used for years for attaching bellows. It works. Clamp your work well and let it rest, in clamps, overnight. I've used it for bellows from sub-4x5 to 12x20.

    Comparable to 90mm on 4x5?
210mm (8 1/4") Dagor. f/6.3 gives you adequate light with which to focus. Often available in an Ilex #3 synchro shutter. Not the most modern, but they can be good. And not...

Re: Tripod Head Needed for 8X10

If you're building the camera, why not build the head, too? Maybe make one following the design of the old platform heads that look like a clapperboard from the side.
  29. Re: First and second lenses for new 4x5 shooter

When I started in 4x5 a few years back, I chose to go with a 210 and 120mm combination. That seemed to best address the way I look at the world.
But then, several years later my favorite image to...

Re: Tripod Suitable for Linhof 5x7

It seems to me that there is something completely incongruous about this statement.

Why don't you start with something smaller before going into the deep end?
