    Re: Are all plasmats convertible?

To correct for the out of focus (no longer corrected) blue light when using only front or rear element, a yellow filter can sometimes be used to increase sharpness. It was recommended when using the...

Re: 2 sheets of film in the same holder?

Some is coated with emulsion on two sides, some on one side. I found the sharpness (alt. process contact prints) of the two-sided to be not acceptable. The top emulsion is too far from the...

    Re: Wobbly Ries Tripod Head

Funny -- I noticed the same thing this past week while in Yosemite (a slightly lighter 11x14 on same head/pod). I decided that I since I had to rock the camera back and forth to get it to wobble, it...

    Re: Importance of back movements

I am not talking about all the four-letter H-words as this is not an architectural photography thread, but about making images of/with (or without) buildings, too.

Re: 2 sheets of film in the same holder?

Neat improvement over what I was thinking...love both the emulsion-to-emulsion, and using a slow over fast film to balance the exposures! Will not be sharp, but a wonderful concept for someone else...
  8. Re: Tray developing - strange marks/scratches on film base

They look like it might be film corner damage. One standard method is to slip the bottom negative out of the tray, lay it on top of the stack and press down to get it under the liquid.

Re: 2 sheets of film in the same holder?

I believe you could wash the anti-halation layer off the film in the dark, dry in the dark, then use it in the camera (would only have to be top one of the two sheets).

And can equally be a big yes!-yes! in making an image with a building in it. When viewed with our eyes/brain from a low angle, buildings do keystone -- it is how we see/experience them. Without the...

Thanks, Don. At this time there is one spot still open for the October workshop. Jim and I will be repeating the workshop in April 2022.

Wait, those aren't just free cameras?

PS -- it is the responsibility of the camera owner to place it where I can not see it.

PS#2 -- There are trail cairns and then there is rock-stacking. The...

Re: LF hikers, do you remove plastic tree ribbons?

  34. Re: Precision and Accuracy in LF Photography: How much is enough?

Exactly! And if one keeps decent notes, one can repeat the successes. But the key to this is to have looked intently at a lot of prints (esp. one's own) so one knows what the hell to look for in...

  36. Re: Precision and Accuracy in LF Photography: How much is enough?

But I'll admit, as far as accuracy, precision and repeatability are concerned...thank you Ilford, Kodak and Fuji films.
  37. Re: Precision and Accuracy in LF Photography: How much is enough?

Depends on one's personality. Some folks psychologically need precision...they need to know. And some people don't. And most people are in between.
