  1. Re: Shortcomings of a Rodenstock Geronar 150mm f6.3?

I read this thread when I got my first 4x5, a Toyo 45cx, along with this lens. Today I mounted it in a cardboard lensboard to test its coverage on my Burke & James 5x7, surprisingly good (I am not...

I have made large format circular fisheye images in a slightly different way, attaching a fisheye adapter to a large format lens, 120mm Nikon lens and Nikon fisheye converter fc-e9.
  3. Re: Photo Critique: "Boulder," February 3, 2023

The framing is good, the subject is fine, but the light is boring, feels like mid day on an overcast day. Same spot same angle when the light is soft late or early in the day, or even at a more...
  4. Re: May i pick your brain about an advanced Solargraphy question?

No chemistry for me, one of the reasons I do so much of it, very easy for apartment living. Load and unload in subdued light, no need for any darkroom equipment, and people are always looking to...
  5. Re: May i pick your brain about an advanced Solargraphy question?

I have made many solargraphs in lensed cameras and found solarization/sabatier effect is an issue I had not heard mentioned before. Underexposure is just as common though. I had done a series of 2wk...

    Re: post alternative techniques

Ilford MGIV RC pearl, lately I've been using Arista EDU Ultra semi matte which seems to develop a deeper image quicker for non-pinhole "short exposure" solargraphs and really enjoying the results.

    Re: post alternative techniques

The summer solstice just passed, and I pulled the wooden box pinhole that I've had sitting in the window since the winter solstice down to scan the solargraph exposing inside it....

    Re: 2021 Self Portraits

Bit of an oddball, paper negative solargraph self portrait, 2 hour exposure during sunset. Crown Graphic, no name 90/4.5 enlarger lens, Arista Edu Ultra VC RC paper. No development just scan and...

Re: Front element chip: How bad is this?

Obviously at some level, it doesn't matter what the end result on image making is, if the fact of the chip bothers you, and the lens is seen as an investment as much as a photographic tool, you...
  12. Re: Drilling holes for flange screws in wood - suggestions

A longer screw/bolt with a nut and washer is cheap insurance no matter what the lens size and weight.

    Re: Quarantine Pictures Any Format

Starting to go out and about a bit more (masked and distanced, naturally) but have spent a good amount of the past 4 months experimenting with solargraphy in homemade seltzer can pinhole cameras....
