    Re: Butane for developer preservation

I just fill bottles to the top. Last Butane I used was splitting Tetenal E6 chemicals several years back. It did work well. Years ago Sam's club sold computer dusters that used straight hfc-134a. Bad...

    Re: Butane for developer preservation

The stuff that Tetenal sold was/is a mixture of propane and butane. Bic lighters contain iso-butane, gas is heavier than air, so is propane. I would use one of the long lighters except I'm afraid I...

Re: Photo Era Favorite & Why

Today. View cameras are reasonably priced. I love the 40s and 50s era. I have a bunch of Kodak books from that era. I've got Deardorffs from that era. I can afford things today which is nice. I've...

    Re: 51 Gallons Distilled

I have a nice RO system dedicated for my darkroom. I have some nice 1 gallon bottles I've scrounged. I keep about 5 gallons racked off. Letting the water sit for a bit lets some of the air come out....

    Re: Developing tank advice

I've never seen or heard of those hangers. They look neat. I love open tanks but I have a Jobo machine now. I use an Expert 3006 for 4x5 and 5x7. I do use an IR viewer for loading 4x5 on the Jobo...

  18. Re: Best Developer For 4x5 Hard Rubber 1/2 Gallon Tanks

I've only used floating lids for a few hours at a time with the smaller tanks, best to keep developer and fixer in a nice bottle overnight etc. Get a quart, pint, and 2 half pint bottles for the...
  19. Re: Best Developer For 4x5 Hard Rubber 1/2 Gallon Tanks

I would choose a published formula for developer and developer replenisher, get some floating lids and some bottles and get to it . I had a 1 gallon glass bottle that I scratched a line at 1 gallon....
  20. Re: Lowest temperature for C-41 / E-6 cross-processing?

I have fiddled around with E1 kits. Originally these were 68F, the 75F. I processed modern Provia, the color was quite good but speed dropped to about ISO of 10. I used an LED flashlight for...

Re: Tetenal E6 processing time with Fuji films

I would be very careful with 1st developer times. 6min and 30 seconds works great for me with 3 bath or six bath with my Jobo CPP3, and also my Jobo Duolab. When I tried 7'30" reading this same OLD...

Re: Dichroic Head for Beseler 45 V-XL

Look on Ebay. The Dichro 45S heads (old like 1980s) I would pass, I've fixed the famous opto-isolator #2 if you can find a super clean one might be OK.

  30. Re: 5x7 Ektachrome, Epson 4990 scanner -vs- Wild M420 microscope

I would say that the high praise for Goerz Lenses is well deserved. I have a Red Dot Artar that was rescued from a Robertson process camera. I had a Packard shutter, it's setup for my 11x14 studio...

Re: Leaving Kodak for Ilford paper developer

I've used Ilford Bromophen for decades, I love it no metol, it's a PQ type. A 5 L package of Bromophen will make 20 L of working solution. Very clean, keeps very well in full bottles.
