Re: How Have You Made a Plastic GG

I've recently ordered & installed an acrylic GG on https://www.pyrasied.nl/en/product/satin-clear-gs-acrylic/ (5000 single sided satin, not double sided). The 3mm version in 8x10 is remarkably flat...

  4. Re: Repair rack and pinion lock for extension rail

When the wall anchors of our cast iron stair railing broke off, the local blacksmith soldered them back on with silver and gave me 5 y. guarantee when I worried if silver was strong enough for the...

Re: Adox CHS100II Yay or Nay?

I really like its classic characteristics. Doesn't curl at all in 8x10" but I don't use pyro - if that makes a difference.

But Adox shouldn't be more expensive than Ilford IMHO, in Europe it's...

Re: Pelican Case - 8x10, Users Here?

I have 4 negative holders in a second small backpack that I carry on my belly. Safer for the holders, and much better weight distribution, too!

Re: Pelican Case - 8x10, Users Here?

If you really want to go that way, get a backpack with an external frame (Fjällräven Fire Brigade Frame, Tatonka Lastenkraxe, Kelty). With an internal frame pack the S-shaped back will flatten when...
  10. Re: Archival Rating of The New Gen 5 Ilford RC Multigrade Deluxe Papers?

Just a few personal observations, nothing scientific. Nearly every plastic object in my household that's over 30-40 years old is either drying out and developing cracks (hard plastics) or getting...
  11. Re: Likely Very Naive Question, sheet film then scan to produce a digital print.

I find a fully digital workflow sterile, even MF - I own a Fuji GFX 50s. There's no sensor larger than 645 available, so the distinct look of LF is lost.

A hybrid workflow has the best of both...

    Re: Hasselblad Flextight 343

Just a side note: these H'blad machines are quite fragile and repairs can get *very* expensive. Calumet received a €3000+ repair bill recently. Scanning with a high end digital camera (Nikon d8xx,...

    Re: Hasselblad Flextight 343

Depending on where you live in Belgium, you could consider scanning on a H'blad scanner at Calumet Rotterdam (https://www.calumetphoto.nl/store/rotterdam) for +/- €40 per hour. You do the scanning...

  17. Re: I'm trying Fiber papers for the first time.

Adox MCC-110 is a great paper with very deep blacks, but manufacturers are always way too optimistic when it comes to developing times, especially with fiber papers. I develop Adox MCC-110 in Adox...
  18. Re: Keeping paper (exposure sheets, notes) with negatives - bad for archiving?

I don't think ordinary paper 'gasses out' like (styro)foam and certain glues. Paper may be acidic but it seems unlike that it will penetrate polyethylene - I'm assuming that those Printfiles are made...

Re: Months-away tide prediction site or app?

Re: Bowens Gemini 500ws ... Profoto

  21. Re: Elinchrom Ranger rX Experience ? Tell me Please.

Are you sure about the weights? Seems closer to 20 lbs. for the pack + 5-6 lbs for the head, similar to the Profoto 7b I had. The pack was 1200 Ws but That produced 600 Ws per flash head which was...

Re: Nikkor M300 f9.0 not sharp

If the image appears sharp on your ground glass, the lens should be fine, right? Maybe it's caused by wind. You have a much longer bellows that catches more wind then when shooting a 150mm. Or...

    Re: 8x10 film processing

A Jobo CPA 2 isn't very expensive, I use it with a Jobo 4550 drum and a 4511 Format Holder to develop 4x 8x10's at once. It may not be fully automated but I get *very* consistent development.

Re: HC110 1:63 mushy flat negatives dilution H

https://imaging.kodakalaris.com/sites/uat/files/wysiwyg/pro/chemistry/j24.pdf doesn't mention dilution H. Is that since the 'new' formula I saw in recent posts on this forum? I don't know. But do...

    Re: Starting with ULF

Where are you going to get 11x14 colour film in Europe? As far as I know, Fotoimpex sells colour film in 8x10, but not larger. Provia 100 (€22,75/sheet) and Portra 160 (€27,5/sheet) and 400...

Re: Citric and acetic acid as stop (bath)

That's the right dilution. But I prefer indicator stop bath, it's cheap and last a looooooong time. I discard it when it turns purple.
  35. Re: Community darkroom in the Netherlands with 8x10” enlarger

Find an old Durst 138/139 on Marktplaats and buy this 8x10 conversion https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/durst-138s-g-139-conversion.164865/. I did and it works great!
  36. Re: Once again: streaks when developing *some* fiber based paper in Jobo 3063
