Hi
I've just put together a quick article on scanning colour negatives which I thought may be of interest to those still using large format colour film like myself. Obviously it's just an overview...
Brilliant, many thanks for the info. I'm certain the shutter can be repaired but it just doesn't come high enough on the to do list to justify funds at the moment, especially when I have a spare...
Hi
The shutter for my Nikon 90mm f/4.5 has broken. I've replaced it with a Copal 0 from a f5.6 lens I don't use often. When I set maximum aperture (5.6) on the shutter is this really f/4.5 or is...

Hoar frost in the valley - Walker Titan XL, 90mm, Pro160NS
This is very urban compared to my usual images - urban enough for this thread?
Definitely urban landscape to me - it displays an interesting and stark contrast of nature and man. Tristan

One more, same moorland location. Also taken on Portra 400NC but converted to b/w, 47mm XL.
Thanks. I used a polariser to slow the shutter to around a 1/4 second to capture the movement in the foreground, it may also have had a centre filter. The image is unfiltered regarding graduated...

Many more very inspirational tree shots here since I last viewed this thread. Great work. This is one of my latest woodland images. Ebony RSW45 with a 6x12 back.

Thanks for all the input. Cleaning the mirrors seems to have cleared the horizontal bands, but the vertical bands remain. Rather stuck on the vertical bands perhaps indicating stepper motor issues....
Thanks for the suggestions, have now cleaned the mirror but it has made no difference unfortunately.

Recently I acquired a SprintScan 45 ultra and am having trouble scanning colour negatives. It produces banding, both horizontally and vertically. Transparencies scan better but the artefacts are...
Very nice perspective on the prison cell, good comp. This is my latest image with the 47xl. Taken with the centre filter on Fuji 160, possibly a slight amount of rise. Tristan

Thanks guys. It is a Howtek in question - the explanation from Aztek is: "5000 DPI will only be an optical resolution when the smaller 4” drum is used. This is due to the physics involved of the...
Does anyone know if there a relationship between the true optical resolution of a drum scanner and the size of the drum being used? Do smaller drums allow higher resolution?
