    Re: Fuji 240-A f9 for 8x10

I know this is an 8x10 titled thread and I made a 5x7 comment that I thought would be relevant.
I probably shouldn't make a habit of sharing my outtakes, but I would reiterate that the center of my...

Yes but since 6300 people have looked at this thread, including me, why start a new one...
I like my treads to be vintage like my cameras.

    Re: Fuji 240-A f9 for 8x10

I recently did a HABS project on 5x7 and found that my 240mm f9 Fujinon A (silver-ring, Copal 0 shutter, serial #521594) does get unsharp around the outer edges of the image circle. I'd say about and...

Re: Arca-Swiss at PhotoPlus Expo 2019

Rod, I just saw a FB post that showed the AS Factum on a Fuji GFX. Is this something that will take Canon shift lenses and LF lenses and is there shift/rise/fall in the factum body or does it need To...
  5. Re: You (Yes, You) Should Donate to the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS)

    Willie,
    They aren’t asking.
The National Park Service has been running HABS since 1933 without expecting work for nothing. I just think it’s good they are allowing talented photographers to share...
  6. Re: You (Yes, You) Should Donate to the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS)

Dave, I’m sure if you can expose film, have a 4x5 and can make a contact print you can do this HHH stuff. The point of my post was to invite curious photographers to try. The guidelines are long but...
  7. You (Yes, You) Should Donate to the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS)

I'm starting this thread after looking at some great photos of architecture and bridges and parks on other threads on LFPF and many of them are of historic sites. And many will get thrown out when we...

    Field Camera Wide angle issues

One thing to keep in mind (for people finding this thread in the future) is that wide angle lenses are very unforgiving from an alignment and focus standpoint; less than 1mm makes a difference. As...
  9. Re: Wista VX or Linhof Master for 72mm to 240mm architecture.

I'm just going to build one. I'll post photos of the Frankencamera when it's done. Inspired by the Walker titan with Cambo guts and a Horseman 'L' geared front standard.
    I decided I didn't care if...
  10. Re: Toyo 45A 45AII 45AX and 45CF Resource/Fan Page

Yep, sorry it is 92.5mm between the masking clips when viewed.

I'm going to assume we are looking at the spring-back GG frame horizontally and the sides are short and the top and bottom are long....
  11. Re: Toyo 45A 45AII 45AX and 45CF Resource/Fan Page

    Toyo CF. More measuring today.

Again the exposed part of my ground glass is 122.5mm x 92.5mm (edited) so I'm not sure that is showing me the entire 4x5 film area at 100% or if it is a 95% view....
  12. Re: Wista VX or Linhof Master for 72mm to 240mm architecture.

Is this something that required you to pull out the rear standard for enough flange distance or can you accomplish 90mm infinity focus with the rear tight to the body?
  13. Re: Wista VX or Linhof Master for 72mm to 240mm architecture.

And I was just in Inverness last year. Always too early, or too late.
I could see the advantage of the top tripod thread in Scotland... the bed makes a nice roof to keep the rain off the lens. ;-)
  14. Re: Wista LX & Linhof Technika front rise at 90mm

Bob- Indeed, Boucher and Jet Lowe are two of my heroes, along with Julius, Ezra, Marvin, and Bernt und Hilla. I know Jet and keep in contact on Facebook. I wish I could have met Boucher, but he lives...
  15. Re: Wista LX & Linhof Technika front rise at 90mm

Yes I have about 6 Cambos (wanna buy one?) and this year I shot 1614 sheets of 4x5 and 5x7 film, only about 150 sheets were exposed on my Toyo CF in exotic places like Guam and Idaho. I like to take...
  16. Re: Wista LX & Linhof Technika front rise at 90mm

Bob - no wonder I can't figur it out. ;-) I don't believe there is a Porsche or Ferrari LX either
  17. Re: Toyo 45A 45AII 45AX and 45CF Resource/Fan Page

    Just a FYI,

I was doing some measuring on my Toyo CF tonight.
With the Toyo CF, the front standard is about one inch away from the carbon fiber body when a 90mm (flat board) is focused at...
  18. Wista LX & Linhof Technika front rise at 90mm

As always, since I can't just rent a Linhoff Technika 2000 non-rangefinder (which is the model I'm partial to)
And I can't rent a late model Wista LX either, I need to base a lot of things that...
  19. Re: A vote for the Wistas

I will be selling the CF. New Toyo OEM bellows from MAC group, body is well used, Bossscreen GG, 4 lensboards, original box, bought used from B&H 15 months ago.

Can someone with a Wista SP or VX...
  20. Re: Wista VX or Linhof Master for 72mm to 240mm architecture.

Yeah, I had a Technikardan in 1989, should never have sold it. The clamshell of the Toyo CF, Wista, Linhof technika is appealing from a travel point of view. This will only be used 10% of the time...
  21. Wista VX or Linhof Master for 72mm to 240mm architecture.

I am considering selling my Toyo CF for a Wista VX or a newer 4x5 Linhof metal field camera.
I will be using lenses between 72mm and 240mm for architectural subjects. Mostly my 90mm, 120mm and 135mm...

Re: Light Leak Theories - Testing for light leaks

The best way I have found to check for light leaks in LF cameras is to remove the lens from a #1 or #0 lens board and stick a light socket into the hole, so it protrudes into the bellows backwards....

  25. Re: Tips and advice for a young(ish) Photographer on getting into HAL/HAER/HALS

Yes I'm also using HP-5 in 25 and 100 sheet boxes for 4x5 and 25 sheet boxes for 5x7.
I have used T-max and TRI-X 320 but in D-76 (Clayton C-76) developer I got better results with the HP5. Less...
  26. Re: Why 55mm f/4.5 Apo-Grandagon *and* 55mm f/4.5 Grandagon-N?

I'm very happy with my APO Grandson 55mm f4.5. Covers 4x5 with 5-7mm of shift ability, but when you need wide, it's wide. I keep getting the camera rail in the bottom of the vertical frame because I...

  31. Re: Nikkor Nikon LF lens serial numbers and reference thread 2018

Thanks Oren, The 2004 catalog PDF I posted in this first thread-post has an S designation next to the Copal 0 lenses. But it does not give any background. Your post is helpful.

    Knowing that The...
  32. Re: Nikkor Nikon LF lens serial numbers and reference thread 2018

I'm looking for that 800XXX series 135mm on Ebay and see a small "S" in a circle, printed on the side of the copal shutter after: W 135mm 1:5.6 (s)

    180268

Anyone know what the (s) designates?...

  35. Re: The GUTS of film holders: A new video deconstructing a 4x5 holder

Yes, I know my darkslides are "Backwards."
  38. The GUTS of film holders: A new video deconstructing a 4x5 holder

I just posted a new video from my darkroom deconstruction of 4x5 film holders. I had a couple that were too far gone to fix and thought they would make a good tutorial.
If you always wanted to know...
  39. Re: Toyo 45A 45AII 45AX and 45CF Resource/Fan Page

Bellows arrived... note the special taper and the smaller ribs where the bellows tucks under and into the 45CF or 45 A body.
