    Make water look wet

I don't have a particular photo to demonstrate this but the question is how do we make water look wet. I love long exposures as much as the next but the water looks more like silk instead of water....
  2. Re: New Darkroom Build: But I forgot what a darkroom is! HELP!

Excellent points especially about wall mounting the enlarger! Right now all the studs are exposed so this would be a breeze. I am just not sure that I have the proper kit to pull it off. I have a...
  3. New Darkroom Build: But I forgot what a darkroom is! HELP!

Before the pandemic I had a wonderful darkroom in an outdoor shed. It has now been at least 4 years since I have been able to make any work, I have not been particularly inspired until now. I am now...

I appreciate that advice, however, I am probably much more critical of the way chems are disposed of than any government agency or regulation. Because my family is on a well it is absolutely...

    Darkroom from zero: Chems disposal

Hello everyone. I moved to a new state where the weather is much colder than my previous home. I have the opportunity to build a new darkroom here but I have a few challenges and would love to hear...
  9. Re: HC110 1:63 mushy flat negatives dilution H

    Update: Part 2

Current working process, for posterity and my own notes.

For tray processing with a slosher 6 sheets at once
    2000ml H2O
    30ml HC110
    70* F
10 minutes (adjusted down from 12...

Re: Keeping Time tray developing film

Any standard GraLab timer works. I have never had any issues with fogging or ruining a piece of film because of the glow in the dark numbers. I have used them directly in front of my initial pre wash...
  11. Re: HC110 1:63 mushy flat negatives dilution H

    Update: SUCCESS

I upped my total developer volume to 2000ml using 30ml of HC110. I also brought development time to 12 minutes and the results are unreal night and day difference. Thanks for...
  12. Re: HC110 1:63 mushy flat negatives dilution H

Pyro is my preferred developer I wouldn't switch if I didn't have to for the moment
  13. Re: HC110 1:63 mushy flat negatives dilution H

    I was using 22ml HC110 to 1380ml water. Developing 6 sheets at a time. That's 3.6ml per sheet.
  14. Re: HC-110 new formula? Any comments on performance?

I don't like using it but it does serve a purpose for baselines. All of this is anecdotal anyway. In my experience I will be adjusting.
  15. Re: HC-110 new formula? Any comments on performance?

I just ran some tests last night using the massive dev chart as a guideline. At least in my experience I will be needing to adjust my process since the results were less than ideal.
  16. Re: HC110 1:63 mushy flat negatives dilution H

Thanks for the oversight. I think time is the easiest variable to adjust at this point.
  17. Re: HC110 1:63 mushy flat negatives dilution H

Right that's kind of important: HP5+
  18. HC110 1:63 mushy flat negatives dilution H

I just pulled my first test negatives out uaing HC110. Reporting low contrast. The low values are not as dense as I had hoped. I believe they are least 2 stops thinner than with my D76 or Pyro...

Thank you. I think for starters I am going to try 1:63 but I have also been looking at some HP5 shot at 200 and that may work for the purposes I am requiring right now.
