  1. Re: Too late, too expensive for this year, but maybe the next? Little Italy and Autum

Just FYI, I was just in northern NH, where it was peak foliage over the weekend, i.e., the last weekend of September. Driving back yesterday it was peak foliage in the Green Mountains of Vermont. ...
  2. Re: First Post! - How Do I Measure My Bellows Extension To Calculate Bellows Exposure

I do what Doremus does. I have tables for my most used lenses. Recently I found myself using a 125mm lens instead of the 135mm in my notebook, and just took an educated guess, and it worked out...
  3. Re: 8x10 Development in tray - How to know the time

I transfer the negative(s) to a filled 11x14 tray under a tap dribbling fresh water in slowly. I dump the whole tray and refill a couple of times, while I do other clean up, for about 15 minutes...

    Re: Heading to Vermont soon...

I would echo what William said, and find a less traveled area, and just hang out there.

    Re: New back pack

I actually carry my large format gear in Dana backpacks. His new company is Mystery Ranch, and these packs, though not ultralight, are still the best at load distribution I’ve ever found. I don’t...

    Re: Flowers Anyone?

I’ve been out of my darkroom for a while, so I just wanted to get started again. This was a quick exposure, with my Wisner 4x5, 125 mm Fuji, FP4+ and Pyrocat in trays....

  11. Re: Contact printing “how-to” but as a final product, not a proof.

The better the negative the better the print. If you’re not happy with the print, start by taking more care exposing and developing your negative.

Re: 4x5 to 8x10 increasing back?

The bellows would vignette the larger image area, for example. A 5x7 reducing back on an 8x10 camera would be quite nice, but not vice versa!

    Re: Quick Question Tray Processing

I wait a few minutes with the film in the fixer to be sure. Why take a chance? After that I turn on the lights.

Re: Basic B&W Developing setup for 4x5

You can use the Jobo tanks and reels for inversion processing, it just takes a lot of chemistry. But that’s how I process 4x5 often, with Pyrocat HD.

  27. Re: Developing with Jobo 2509n tanks on CPE2+ vs. SP-445 tanks

I use the 2509 reels in the 2500 tank for manual inversion. Works great.
  28. Re: Density Readings from FP4 negatives in Pyrocat-HD using a spotmeter

My normal for FP4 at 100 in Pyrocat 1:1:100 is 10-11minutes, in tanks and trays, for silver printing.

Re: Bergger Pancro 400 in Pyrocat-HD?

I have no experience with the Bergger film, but lots with Pyrocat. I would start with even less time, like 12 (or even 10) minutes, then 14, 16 and maybe 18. I think one minute differences are too...
