    Re: Which Chamonix 4x5?

No need for a recessed board on a Chamonix 45 for a 75mm. IIRC, the published minimum bellows draw is 52mm.
  2. Re: Question re: Charmonix 045-N-2 minimum bellows draw

Sorry, that image is from Chamonix's site, not one of my own. A sharp-eyed user above identified it though!
  3. Re: Question re: Charmonix 045-N-2 minimum bellows draw

Aha, yes, you've got it now. By loosening the knobs on the bottom side of the bed as well as the top, you can slide them back and forth to give you a bit more flexibility on rear standard position.

Re: Where did all the Caltars go?

I believe you can also add Komura to that list, they made at least one lens under the "Caltar Pro Series" label, a rather huge 90/5.6 with equally large (259mm) coverage.

    Re: choosing a 4x5 camera

The Woodman is certainly light, but solid build and rigidity are unfortunately not qualities it is known for. That said, I'm sure it's not a terrible camera by any means and will likely work quite...
  8. Re: Camera confusion: Beginner Puzzles over Chamonix et al

Just in case you missed Kent's post earlier - Chamonix offers optional bag bellows for all of its 4x5 models. You do not need a "special" Chamonix camera to use bag bellows.

    FWIW, I started with a...

Re: Hi from the back woods of BC Canada

TCS is a great outfit! It's often worth the effort to call them, especially with regards to darkroom and film stock - they often have more in the store than the website lists.

Re: questions about caltar ii-n lenses

There certainly seems to be some overlaps in serials for ringed vs non-ringed Caltars and Rodenstocks. I also took a gander at eBay and found a 90/4.5 Grandagon-N serial 11695xxx (~2001) with no...

    Re: Chamonix 45H-1

The H-1 doesn't use a focus bed with threaded holes like the N or F series cameras, so I don't believe the extension would be able to mount to it, nor would the H-1 front standard mount to the...
  14. Re: Look what the stork delivered!!! She's just so beautiful!!!

The rollfilm back is a Shen Hao SH617 6x17/6x12/6x9 back, mounted on my 45N2 in the picture. It comes with the rollfilm back and separate ground glass unit, all mounted via Graflok. It's indeed...
  15. Re: Look what the stork delivered!!! She's just so beautiful!!!

You'll love the Chamonix - so nicely built and intuitive to use. It's impressive how versatile it is and how little it weighs!

Re: Advice on 1st lens for LF (new member here)

Another suggestion for the 90mm - the 90mm f/6.8 Rodenstock Grandagon-N (aka Caltar IIN) is sharp, light, and reasonably cheap (especially with Caltar branding). It's a hair dimmer than the f/5.6...

Re: Ebay - lenses from Japan

  22. Re: LCD monitor as VC light source for contact print

Haha, I think the LCD lightsource is a really cool idea. Heck, you could lighten or darken areas of the screen as a form of dodging and burning if you put the screen close enough to the negative!
