Large Format Landscapes

This is just a test to test out some ancient Velvia I bought off Ebay. It was expired in 1990!

It has a green cast to the film when doing a straight scan, but this is the color corrected (as much as I could anyway) version. Not to bad, and I can see some use for it, more of a pictoral film than good Velvia.

I bought 125 sheets for less than $0.50 a sheet so I think it was still a good deal!

Shot with my Zone VI 4x5 camera and Fujinon 125mm F5.6 lens using a 2 stop graduated ND filter. Processed with Arista Rapid E-6 Kit.

I felt a little depressed with this one, needs some work or another attempt. Maybe a rescan, the negative is a sight to behold.

Nice David, those are some spectacular bold masses (two posts up), even menacing.

So menacing, I thought that was a volcanic puff of smoke, upper left.

Maybe it's a New Zealander by his campfire.

That's a really great image. You have a lot of tones near white that you have given nice balance to. Between the mist and sky and sheen off the road you held a balance with detail - well done. And I thought I was the only one who gets depressed looking at scans.

It's winter then so the sun isn't strong enough to burn the clouds off most days, even a good day. But it's spring now and I've cleared the film holders for blossoms, daffodils and tulips.

Just had a look at the post on your blog Bryan. All fantastic images. You are so consistent with your output. I really like the velvia shots, too. You've really made that 58mm lens work for you. Congrats.
