Ken,
Like the texture and rich tone of your rock studies. Also the subtle contrast between rock and leaf.

I took these today in Angeles Natl. Forest. Beautiful day with very fast moving clouds, which is on the rare side here.Unfortunately my very old scanner is completely crapping out. It's banding and having tons of trouble with highlight detail. Regardless, I just had to see what I have so I scanned and did some quick'n'dirty™ stuff to them.

This one was hard. It took me several tries (6 or 7, or maybe even more) from different spots, in several conditions during a couple of years until I got an acceptable image. Or an image that most resembles what the place tells me from the very beginning, what I wanted to capture...
Lesson I learned: perseverance is important. Don't be put of by initial failure, even several of them... and let the place speak to you...
