Beauty of K-Lake. I've always like driving around there. :)

It ain't Tahoe, but it's home!
I have been to Crater Lake how far away is this location from there?
Gary,
Klamath Lake is the largest lake in Oregon, and it is maybe about 30 miles long. The northern end would be about 30 miles south of Crater Lake. The lake is also very shallow, which means it grows a lot of algae and is not that aesthetically appealing to many. It has some interesting ridges around it and islands in it, though. I took this shot from a park here in town that is at the very southern end of the lake.
The lake itself is not an obvious target for landscape shots, but after being around it a while one begins to appreciate its beauty. There are roads near much of its shore, and a railroad too on one side. I like to go out about 10 miles north of town, cross the railroad track and go down to the lake to shoot. With just a little care both the railroad and highway can be minimalized. Here are links to a couple digital shots obtained that way:

I don't see much reason for you Portlanders to venture down this way, what with Hood, Trillium Lake, the coast and the Columbia River Gorge in your area, but if you are ever down and want a tour, let me know.

I removed the links from the post above because they may have led to pages with the malware that Jim mentioned. Sorry, folks!
