David, that's fantastic. This is a perfect example of how lens fall-off can work with an image to bring the eyes straight to a focal point such as the central tree in this photo. The natural lighting didn't hurt either. It looks like you also dodged that tree and maybe burned the edges a bit?
Hello again and thanks, Old-N-Feeble and Stone. I only used an orange filter (my default); in retrospect I should also have used the ND grad, but I'd probably have had some vignetting with two stacked filters on a 75mm lense. I haven't actually done any dodging and burning - the near water was fast-moving, deep and dark, and I've cropped the bottom inch to get a better tonal gradation and balance in the image. It would have been better to have pulled the exposure by 2/3 to 1 stop, because the light was much more intense than I realised at the time.
David, you didn't dodge that center tree at all?
Hi - no, I didn't dodge the tree - the foliage is naturally lighter, and probably also benefits from the sunlight that is breaking through the clouds.
