Martin,
I don't comment usually but your recent colour work is just breathtakingly beautiful. I love your take of the Tre cime, beautiful light and mood. Did you stay at the cottage after you took this or was there enough time for the decent before dark?

Thanks PDM! It's also one of my favourite lenses! Great image circle and a stellar performer!

Thank you Peter, I stayed at Refugio Auronzo for a couple of days.
The conditions were bad first, on some days the melting snow created so much mist that one could not see anything, on some days there were clouds blocking out the last light, and on some it was overcast.
On the final day, while going up towards the ridge, everything on this side was misty, and I was frustrated and thought again it wouldn't work out, but I kept going up nevertheless, which would prove to be a good idea ...
At the ridge, I was able to see the other side, and there was mist, but not as much and one could see the Tre Cime.
Approaching the magic hour, the mist became less and less, you can still see some of it in the shot.
Best regards,
Martin

And there's just enough detail in the sky / tree branches that it mirrors the vertical lines of the waterfall, almost like a reflection. Really nice composition.
I was going to comment on the image, but fishbulb said it all too well. I love that even though the sky is bright, details are not completely blown out. Gives great contrast to the waterfall and foreground. Works well!

Here is one I shot a couple of mornings ago at sunrise looking west toward the Tennessee Valley. 5x7 Rittreck View, 210mm fujinon, arista film

Martin,
Thanks a lot for the detailed response. I can imagine the frustration during the wait but it so much was worth it! The clearing mist may be one of those magic details that make an outstanding image. I wouldn't hesitate a second to put this one on my wall. It's one of those images that will stick in my (fairly poor) memory - like your take of "Schlögener Schlinge" quite a while ago.
